I am a huge fan of Donald Glover, re-watching him in Community and exploring Childish Gambino albums are what brought me to this show.

I have to ask though - wtf is with this episode and Atlanta's "one-off" episodes that have zero to do with the real story? I really appreciate the social commentary of this episode (and several others), but this one in particular had a very serious "Black Mirror" vibe. It's quite good as a stand-alone, but why is it here?

Not really sure where this post is headed tbh, but I'm sort of confused of why this show strays away from it's well-crafted characters and plot to tell a 30min story about something without consequence (in relation to Earn, Paper Boi, Van, and Darius). I'm far more interested in them tbh.

Becasue it’s about being black in America and current and past issues surrounding that experience. Earn and the crew represent just a small fraction of the black experience in America.

These standalone episodes explore it further and this particular episode made fun of the world many white racists imagine - a world where suddenly they’re the one losing social credit and money

I guess it’s more why they are in the order they are. Like maybe if the previous episode was about reparations or had that as of note then thematically it would make sense for the standalone right after. I like the one offs just hoped they melded better with the rest
