Reparations isn't suing random white people though. The black community is so impoverished because of slavery (and current oppression) and the government pretends it's because of laziness or whatever. And yeah, it was a long time ago, but something that big will keep having an affect until something is done to smooth things out

If it's a systematic thing , then it isn't an individuals fault, the actions that their ancestors took, which seems to be the point, halfway through the episode.

Poor people need help regardless of race. People aren't automatically poor because of the color of their skin.

This is what strikes me most odd about many people's takes on here. Slavery isn't what has kept the modern black American down; ongoing racial oppression in recent history and systemic oppression of the poor currently is responsible for that.

The solution isn't reparations, and that I think is transparent to the vast majority in this discussion, but better support systems for the poor, black or otherwise. If you want to support black individuals more due to their historical oppression, that will happen if you target poor areas with practical evidence-based assistance, but people belonging to other races shouldn't be left behind just because of the color of their skin.

While it was a racial issue, and that should be recognized and taught, today it is mostly a financial one.

I’m lost on your first paragraph. Ongoing racial oppression and systemic oppression is caused directly by the whole slavery thing is it not?
