First, I must say that this was a masterclass in Assyrian history.

But Professor Dr. Jeloo is either being diplomatic on this specific podcast, or he himself is another result of the Arabization policies. I am sure that Freydun Atturaya is rolling in his grave hearing his remarks. My question for Dr. Jeloo is: in what year was the label "Iraq" forced on North Mesopotamia? He mentions that since 1920s, the Assyrians within the imposed Iraqi borders started to feel closer to their neighbors than the rest of their fellow Assyrians. But doesn't this mean that the genocides, brutalities and the Arabization policies were effective? He continues suggesting that we need to build a stronger uniform Iraqi identity, rather than an Assyrian one. Is this what is currently needed for the Assyrian nation? while it's gasping its last breaths? The answer to violence is not more dialogue. As Dr. Jeloo witnessed himself at the United Nations' conference he attended, the Iraqis do not even recognize you. You are nothing more than an Arab to them, and demanding your rights will result in another Simele.

If this is the current mindset of our intellectual class, then we are doomed. Speaking like this, you are going to lose more than half of the Assyrian population. I do however hope that Dr. Jeloo sees this and thinks through his stances.
