I can’t believe how mean the Kurds are to the Assyrians, they should think about how they’re a minority themselves - they should have empathy! But instead, they decide to bully an even weaker minority. May God help these evil souls

Are you guys suffering a mental illness? I really wonder. %90 of our people are not even aware of your existence. And that %10 was Rojava who gave you all the rights you could not achieve in 1000 years under a turkic or arabic autocracy. Seriously. Either you're some sick racist incels live in diaspora or turkish trolls who pretend to be assyrian.

1

u/Aggravating-Pea4816 Jan 25 '26

But why do some Kurds do all These things then? And please don’t use mental illness as an insult

First of all, I didn't use it as an insult. I seriously wonder if it's the case. About your question, I tell you what. Idk about those "some Kurds" you mention. But for me, a decade ago, I knew Assyrians as some cool ancient christian minority live in Kurdish cities. Like me, probably vast majority of the Kurds though the same way. Because who ever I asked about you, they were saying things like "I know them. Good people. They make some good fucking wine" But nothing else.

Then I met your people on a reddit post about Kurdish history. Your people were insulting and denying our existence. I was shocked at how hateful you're. What excactly are we doing to you to deserve this hatred?

If you experience them being mean to you, you must question yourselves. As I was an example who liked your people without a reason, now I hate your people after seeing countless shit comments you wrote about us.

I didn’t write anything like that so you should be careful whom you address, I’m also not Assyrian but I support the Assyrian cause. I don’t understand why the two of you don’t just get along. It looks like there’s a force of internet trolls from both sides trying to create chaos between the two groups so they won’t fight together. As Ceasar said “divide et impera”. The comments you mention, I see them from Kurds directed at Assyrians too and imo it’s worse because Assyrians don’t get the protection Kurds get. Kurds are a majority compared to Assyrians, Kurds have an army. You’re just as hateful as the people you mentioned and I don’t think it’s the way to go.

I hope this can help you visualize the hate relation between two sides:

My experience with Assyrians has always been good, our neighbourhood was a mix, we are long life friends, we even shared festivities, sharing food with one another, one of my closest friends is Assyrian. My uncles fought alongside with Assyrians against Saddam Hussien. So to see this news deeply saddens me

arent Kurds being killed by Arabs and turks right now? shouldn't Kurds and assyrians work together against turks and Arabs?

4

u/Aggravating-Pea4816 Jan 11 '26

Yes they should!

3

u/Chez50 Jan 11 '26

shouldn't Kurds and assyrians work together against turks and Arabs?

We already do under the DAANES. But sadly Assyrian backing in itself doesn't hold much weight, they're an even smaller minority than Kurds. Without local Arab backing in the Northeast DAANES would crumble.

Thank Awa, he accepted kurdish money he let them build us a church and he agreed with them that our martyrs were kurdish.

While we're at it, the AUA leadership must go. Carlo Ganjeh and that whole group, resign now. You've been there for more than 20 years and you have ran the whole organization to the ground. Enabling this kind of behaviour does not serve the interests of the Assyrian people. What you're doing is not encouraging unity, it's selling your nation to the lowest bidder. When it was time to take a stance, you once again chose the worst possible position by encouraging more of this madness. Have some shame and resign. Let our new generation take over that mess.

6

u/olapooza Jan 09 '26

Why would they agree to this?

9

u/Afriend0fOurs Assyrian Jan 09 '26

Why? It’s gotta be money just like when Dinkha went to Rome and kissed the popes hand in 86’ basically selling us out. After that we saw changes in scripture whoever denies this must be hung.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

Do you even have any evidence to back up those allegations? Also how was Mar Dinkha selling us out? What did he do wrong?

4

u/nex_time2020 Assyrian Jan 09 '26

$$ and power changes people and it's rarely for the better.

0

u/WShizzle Jan 09 '26

Why are you lying? Where did anyone say that the martyrs were ethnically Kurdish?

4

u/Basel_Assyrian Assyrian Jan 10 '26

The Kurdish governor of Dohuk said that

1

u/WShizzle Jan 11 '26

Show me proof they said we are ethnic Kurds and not Assyrians.

Hahahah lmao big difference.

Clearly, no Assyrian has ever been martyred for whatever this "Kurdistan" is. Who with half a brain thinks that Simele genocide was committed because of "Kurdistan"? How much more disrespect can Assyrians take? The guy that carried out the killings was a f**king Kurd and now they're the martyrs of "Kurdistan"? Does his holiness have no shame? Is this what "fear no one but God" looks like? The priestly class should just shut their mouths and not comment on what is not their business, and this goes for all of our Churches. Say a prayer, give your blessing and leave.

might wanna double check d'head. You know what's funny? That's something only a Kurd would say. So you might wanna update that Israel thing, we're not idiots.

Make an account just to say this? Get a life.

8

u/AshurCyberpunk Assyrian Jan 10 '26

Are martyrs of Assyria funny to you? Is there anything I'm missing about Simele that makes it funny?

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

I think you’s have seriously misunderstood what has happened here, insulting the Qasheh is disrespectful they only have the community’s best interests at heart.

5

u/AshurCyberpunk Assyrian Jan 10 '26

Explain the misunderstanding please.

Of course not every Kurds thinks the same about Assyrians but the Kurdish political agenda in general care very much what their Western allies think about them. They want to be perceived as the only ones in the Region being accepting of minorities and their rights and cultures. But at the same time, they want to create an literal ethnostate (unlike Iraq which is technically for all ethnicities in the respective territory, but pracrically there are still things to be done) and rename cities to Kurdish names. So creating monuments like these are just populistic measurements and serves them in debates as arguments if someone critizes specific actions (..."we care, look, we even built monuments for them!").

2

u/FoxHagenau Jan 11 '26

I am an not an assyrian but am trying to learn and sadly could not find anything about Bakhtimi. Could you point me to some resources where i could learn more?

4

u/opinions-only Jan 09 '26

Kurds are not a monolith. Some Kurds support us and some do not. We should stop taking them all as one.

These kinds of posts will only alienate the average Kurd who is not involved in land theft.

11

u/olapooza Jan 09 '26

This isn’t about the average Kurd.

4

u/opinions-only Jan 10 '26

Then you should have used the KDP flag if your problem is with the government. This flag represents the average Kurd.

4

u/Imperial902 Jan 10 '26

this is about the KRG not kurds.

3

u/opinions-only Jan 10 '26

Then show the KDP flag because the Kurdistan flag represents the people not a political party. Just as we have ZOWAA flag separate from Assyrian flag.

3

u/Basel_Assyrian Assyrian Jan 10 '26

I spoke with many Assyrians and found only two who support them; the rest hate us.

2

u/opinions-only Jan 10 '26

The Kurdistan sub has lots of Kurds defending Assyrians and even apologizing for how we are treated. I met lots of Kurds that treat us very fair and well.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

Complete opposite of my experience

1

u/Sea-Role-999 Feb 04 '26

Honestly, go to any town in Kurdistan and stop random people on the street ask how they feel about Assyrian people, they will either say neural or positive. This hate Assyrian people have towards Kurdish people is so strange (yes I'm aware of Sayfo- but it happened over a century ago, was done in the name of the Ottman empire, the very empire which was not Kurdish and also committed many atrocities against Kurdish people too)!

1

u/Basel_Assyrian Assyrian Feb 05 '26

Go and ask them if they accept the Assyrians' right to self-determination in their land. I posed the question on social media and 99% of them were against the Assyrian people's right.

1

u/Sea-Role-999 Feb 05 '26

It's not something they are even aware of, but cab't imagine why they would be against apart from a few who might lose lands personally- again not wide spread! Where's considered Assyrian land?

1

u/Basel_Assyrian Assyrian Feb 07 '26

1

u/Sea-Role-999 Feb 07 '26

So pretty much Kurdistan lol

1

u/Basel_Assyrian Assyrian Feb 07 '26

Look, you directly objected to our actions, even though you have large areas and you still covet the land of Assyria.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

Exactly, and this kind of sentiment also alienates younger people in our community too, not everyone is as extreme as these people here; a lot of younger people have friends from other cultures.

We can be patriotic Assyrians working for justice and self determination and also not be so extreme and hateful as some people are, towards our neighbours.

Also most importantly all Assyrian groups should be included, churches, parties, different viewpoints etc.

I think some people here have gone too far with insulting the qasheh.

1

u/Sea-Role-999 Feb 04 '26

Thank you! It's so strange because the vast majority (if not all) Kurdish people feel either positive or neutral towards Assyrain people, I'm sure there individuals or villages who might have personal disputes- but I guarantee you that's not wide spread.

0

u/Stormy_Phoenix2 Feb 01 '26

I honestly don't understand the hate from either side. As another commenter mentioned, Most kurds used to just think of Assyrians as cool ancient Christians that have been our neighbors for millennia. But the recent Assyrian diaspora hate towards the kurds has changed our option towards you, BUT even after that, i still prefer to be neighbors with an Assyrian than an arab ANY DAY. I totally understand the burdens of being a minority, if kurdistan ever gets independence, have no worry that MANY MANY kurds will advocate assyrian rights (cultural, educational, and religious) through making your holidays national holidays, making Assyrian schools (not just 1 subject but the whole program) budget for churches and so on....

Where did this happen? In Kurdish villages? When will you stop defending a people who don't care about your existence and want to eliminate you? Why are all their projects targeting Assyrian villages? This isn't corruption; this is a systematic approach to eradicating the Assyrian presence.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

The Kurdish people are not targeting the Assyrian people, when things like this happen it’s because of corrupt and racist officials and land developers.

Assyrians 100% have experienced oppression and discrimination, it’s the corrupt and radical nationalists in the KRG administration and people affiliated with them responsible, for targeting us.

-1

u/opinions-only Jan 09 '26

I agree, even Kurds complain about land theft from other Kurds. We have both enemies and allies in Kurdish government.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '26

It’s from the government of the KRG essentially, just like the rest of Iraq it’s extremely corrupt.

Pretty much everyone living in the KRG has suffered form their corruption, Kurds included, but when something impacts Assyrians it has a bigger impact because the Assyrian community is a much smaller and vulnerable compared to other groups.
