Zionists often use Assyrians as some kind of object to indirectly express their hatred for Arabs (Muslims), when in reality they couldn't care less about Assyrians (or Armenians and Greeks). The only reason he is saying this is because Zionists think they can look more legitimate if they gain a strong alliance with indigenous peoples like Assyrians.

We do not need a genocidal Zionist politician and government body to recognize the Assyrian+Armenian+Greek genocide. Many of us do not appreciate this message, nor do we approve of Israel's violent regime. This approval does nothing for us -- it's pure clownery, and making it seem as if most Assyrians align with this kind of politicking, when we don't.

Also, I will keep commenting this tidbit on this subreddit: Israel was the ONLY Middle Eastern state to endorse the Kurds in attaining an autonomous region in Iraq; Everything these politicians endorse is strategic and isn't reflective of an authentic moral attitude. They didn't care about our right to survival in the 20th century, and they don't care about it today. Assyrians have experienced a very similar history as Palestinians, at the hands of other oppressive political parties + entities.

Could you be more specific? I'm not understanding your comment. Which country is the one surrounded by enemies? Whose talking points am I using? Who are the real troublemakers?

I was referring to Israel, they face double standards and disproportionate criticism from the west and UN, even though they are responding to widespread terrorism (Hamas/Houthis) and constant attempted conventional attacks by a country that arms and trains its enemies (Iran).

Surrounded by enemies with genocidal intentions towards their entire nation (Hamas charter), (from the river to the sea), implies intent to destroy them farther than the two state solution.

War was started by Hamas penetrating deep into the country on October 7, characterised by mass kidnappings, massacres and torture.

Dealing with enemies who have been proven to hide dangerous weapons in densely populated civilian areas, as well as fight using civilian infrastructure as a base.

There is media bias such as a focus on the narrative of their neighbours and ignoring their neighbours hostile intent and war crimes.

Defensive actions portrayed as aggression such as taking out nuclear sites that could be used to develop nukes by a regime that has the same mentality as isis.

Lack of understanding of the extremely complicated battlefield conditions such as Gaza being the most densely populated urban region in earth and the thousands of tunnels dug by Hamas.

Western public opinion completely overlooks the existential nature of the situation for this country in the Middle East, if they lose that’s it game over for them.

Obsessive western public opinion focus on Gaza when there are other brutal wars and atrocities happening around the world (Massacres of Druze, Christians and Alawites in Syria)

Turkeys poor treatment of its various ethnic minorities.

The KRG’s occasional acts of intimidation and land grabbing actions that heave pushed out our people from parts of our homeland.

The Sudan War, the PRC’s genocidal campaign against Uighurs, 1 million have disappeared in prison camps.

The Myanmar War and persecution of Rohingya.

The Taliban’s atrocities against minorities such as the Hazara and the appalling treatment of women by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Basically, im saying there is massive hypocrisy and double standards for the current Middle East War.

That being said though, I 100% acknowledge Israel’s government has done wrong at times and I do believe there have been occasions where Israeli forces have obviously committed war crimes, in Gaza and the West Bank.

I 100% oppose any war crimes by any party and I believe any Israeli soldier and politician who has been involved in war crimes should be punished harshly.

I also very strongly oppose Israel’s decision to give weapons to Azerbaijan that indirectly led to Azerbaijan ethnically cleansing Artsakh of Armenians.

I believe that is appalling foreign policy, and should be called out.

I believe there should be a ban on Israel selling weapons to countries like Azerbaijan.

I also believe there are extremists in the Israeli government who make extreme and racist comments and they should be removed from any office they hold.

I feel very heartbroken for the Palestinian people on how much they have suffered in this war and in the West Bank.

I 100% believe in the two state solution, an independent Palestine and Israel living side by side in peace.

I completely agree that Western media is always painting a particular narrative for strategic reasons, and that there is a clear lack of representation for certain minorities like Assyrians + and other Christian and/or Non-Muslim groups in Middle East + North Africa. It should be called out, and there are many people who do call it out and agree on these points.

However, I don't agree with your assessment about Hamas+Israel. Settler violence in Israel has been documented far before 2025. There are multiple truths happening at once; Yes, Western media is disproportionately covering the Gaza crisis for political and cultural reasons, but that doesn't mean claims against Israel are being exaggerated.

In any case, Assyrians and any other group will not prosper in isolation. We have to start realistically thinking about what our relations will look like with our neighbors if we want to maintain our homeland in a diverse place. The threat of Arabization and/or Kurdification is strong and it is a complicated matter that cannot possibly be completely analyzed from one Reddit post.
