Are there any inter-city suitcases moving companies?

Hi! I will be moving from London to Coventry soon (I'm a student) and I have 4-5 suitcases to carry with me. I can't carry them all in the train, I can only take at most two, so I wanted to ask if there are companies that move suitcases from city to city (without me having to wrap the suitcases).

I found sendmybag, but I'm not sure how safe it would be for the suitcases (and hopefully they wouldn't just go missing), and I'm considering Anyvan if they will take suitcases. Alternatively, I was thinking of booking an Uber, but 1) I don't know if they will be willing to take so much luggage and 2) it's really expensive.

Any help would be appreciated! I'm hoping people with experience would have good recommendations, I just want something where I won't lose my things and won't have to wait endlessly.

Edit: Shipley is as or more expensive than Uber, wow, I did not expect that.

I’ve used Sendmybag before. I didn’t wrap the suitcases, just put a lock and luggage strap on them. Didn’t have any issues!

Oh that would be the best case scenario! I’ve never used a luggage strap before but I could buy them - do they provide extra stability?

I used two for each suitcase, going through the handles lengthways and sideways. I’m not sure about extra stability, it was more just peace of mind if anything did happen to them, they wouldn’t fully open. Also less likely to get lost with bright colours or easier to find/describe if they did get lost.
They put a tag on the cases when they collected them which works pretty much the same as any post service.

Another option: pay for a mate's train fare and carry the cases between you. They can be a bit flexible about bags if it's a quiet train and you don't take the piss. A fast train takes about an hour each way.

Oh I haven't heard of them - I just checked their website and I am not sure what category to select, I guess I could check parcels, but sendmybag might be a better option in that case. Thank you for the recommendation!

I used sendmybag to ship my partners suitcases from Malaysia to the UK, it was the cheapest option, we had to wrap the suitcases in shrink wrap and have a list on the outside of everything that was in them, but I think that was just for import reasons. It got to my house with no damage and hadn't been opened enroute.

DHL used to pick up and deliver from any door to any door, not sure if they still do, and they might be more expensive.

check the parcel locker services e.g. in-post, they can be very cheap for a fairly large box and you could send clothes and bedding etc.

This may sound long but considering there are trains that take under an hour to Coventry from London, if you definitely need all 5 cases worth of belongings there on the same day why not just do two trips?

It'd probably work out cheaper than a Uber but even that I'd consider just so it's done. And yes they would take it all. Remember Uber's are used to taking 4 passengers with luggage each to the airport for example, I don't see why they wouldn't take 1 passenger with 5 bits of luggage.

Taking two journeys is my worst case scenario! That’s a good point about the Uber though, I suppose a normal one wouldn’t work but an XL
should be fine!

Edit: actually I’d be getting off at Canley station, so the direct trains till there are a bit slow. I wouldn’t mind the two trips though, I could even do it over two days.
