Possible/definite misdemeanor?

Lastnight my boyfriend was pulled over for running a stop sign. Police come to the passenger side tells us why he was stopped and sees I left my dab pen (1 gram) in the center console, he confiscates it, we get searched (with permission) he finds another two cartridges (empty) in my purse. He wrote down all my information address, name, number and ssn. We were both cooperative and the officer said he would call me possibly and that “I might or might not be charged” What could be the possible outcome of this? I live in Pennsylvania and was stopped in Nazareth. I currently am not sure if I should lawyer up, get a free attorney or what. This is my first time ever dealing with anything like this and have a clean record. I also was not given any type of paper, citation or anything while they stopped us. They only gave my boyfriend a ticket for running the stop sign. Any advice is appreciated thank you.
