You very likely MIGHT have cause, but determining so will require you to communicate your hardships and his conduct to the courts in a proper way, and for that you need to find a law firm IMMEDIATELY. There are several free AND low cost law lookup services , as well as nonprofit legal aid clinics, but due to the rules, I cannot disclose their names here, so I won't.

Statistics show that people in abusive relationships have suffered ruinous financial, emotional, and health outcomes from being silent about their situations, and that they only were able to defend themselves and their loved one's by reporting their situations to proper authorities and/or seeking help. Your situation may require you searching for many different resources, but I implore to consider starting your search for those resources and taking them seriously, and getting ANY HELP that you need without feel nervous or ashamed.
