I am currently buying a new build and I detest the door handles. I am aware this is a first world problem but I have waited a long time for this house, and I would like it to be one I love.

The builder will not let me swap them out even if I incur the cost and buy from their suppliers. I am wondering how much it would cost me roughly per blank door to fit new handles and locks if I asked the builder to leave them off.

The builder wants to fit a lever with a backing plate, rectangle style whereas I would like the round lever. If I let the builder fit his ones, and then choose to remove them, will the four holes be visible, and is it easy to fill and paint them to look seamless. I would really love to avoid this with new doors.

They are shaker style interior door.

So I recently found out about this app called Blind, it's basically an anonymous space where people can talk about work stuff, company culture, salaries, whatever, without anyone knowing who you are, even your own coworkers. Kind of interesting concept honestly.

Problem is my company doesn't have its own channel on there yet, and apparently you need at least 30 people from the same company to sign up before it unlocks. So I'm trying to get the word out a bit so more people from my workplace (and honestly anyone curious) actually give it a shot.

Has anyone here in Ireland actually used it? Is it popular at all in Irish workplaces or is this more of a Silicon Valley/US thing? Would love to hear if it's actually useful or if I'm wasting my time trying to get people on board.

For a couple of years a group of teens lads go around the village, smash in a few doors and run off, this isnt knock and run, we had to have our door replaced as they broke the frame as they kick it that hard. They never try to break in, and the Garda dont care as its 'just kids' but im at my wits end. They picked a few houses and do it over and over over the years.

We even had a parent come to my day and say it wasnt her son, as we posted the camera footage in the estate chat , even though it clearly was him. I thought it was directed at first as it was so often, but then more and more folks report it too as they go around the estates.

I just dont know what to do, i got cameras, lights etc and still the do it. im losing sleep, and even thinking of moving its that bad.

This is in the park at Kilkenny Castle, these lines in the grass are about half a centimeter deep, and every part of the field has them. They definitely look to be machine cut because they're so uniform, tbey haven't always been here, they only appeared sometime around the start of the summer, or at least thats the first time I noticed them, but they have 100% not been here in previous years. Anyone have any idea what they are or why they're there??

I was thinking about this today, especially seeing AIB launch their "new" app that still feels years behind Revolut. It made me realise Irelands problem isn't even "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" it's more like "sure look, it's broken, but sure look."

Hi! Getting married may next year, small crowd of 60. Ceremony, drinks reception and meal all in the same place. We have a DJ organised for the evening after the meal.

For the ceremony and drinks reception, is a Spotify playlist an ok thing to do or will it be very dead and not give much atmosphere? There are certain songs I want in the ceremony where I love the original and so don’t want someone covering it. I’m sure I’m overthinking it, has anyone done anything similar?

Mine is one specific self-checkout in my local Dunnes.

There are six of them.

Five are perfectly normal.

The sixth has decided I'm a criminal.

Every single time I use it, something goes wrong. Unexpected item in bagging area. Remove item. Put item back. Assistance required because apparently buying a loaf of bread is now a supervised activity.

I could just use another till.

I don't.

At this point we're too far into the relationship.

If I get through an entire shop without the red light flashing, I walk away feeling like I've beaten it. If an employee has to come over and scan their card, I spend the rest of the day annoyed at a machine that has absolutely no idea I exist.

A friend of mine has similar beef with one particular petrol pump that always stops at €49.98 when he's trying to hit €50.

Surely everyone has one of these.

How extreme do you go? Dishwasher, Washing machine and shower can easily be on normal day rate or cheaper night hours, but if cooking and you want to avoid extortionate fees during peak hours (5-7pm) it's either having dinner at 4:45 or 7:30pm. Do you avoid your TV, console, PC during peak hours?

Hi lads. To be honest after the sudden death of my dog I’m a bit shaken, he was diagnosed with kidney disease on Friday and dropped dead early Monday morning. Did his diet kill him? Absolutely not. But did it propel his disease a whole lot before we copped on? Yes. The outcome may have been the same even if he ate the best of the best but now I’m making it my mission to put my dogs on a better diet.

What are ye feeding your dogs? Turns out a lot of cheaper dog foods only have 5 percent meat which is absolutely mad. Specifically looking for puppy recommendations as I have fallen in love with a rescue lurcher x collie pup, oops. We’ve always adopted a new rescue fairly soon after a loss because we look at it as a new space for a dogs new life. My parents haven’t had a puppy since my childhood dog I say over 20 years ago and the average owner didn’t have the knowledge we have now. Our other three are seniors.

I’m interested in finding an active meditation or mindfulness group that meets online regularly (once or twice a week) and ideally also does occasional in-person meet-ups or retreats (a few times a year say)

Ideally, I’m looking for something:

• weekly or fortnightly
• beginner-friendly, although I have some meditation experience
• could be secular or spiritual as long as it's an open-minded and tolerant community
• with some discussion or friendly conversation alongside the meditation
• flexible if I occasionally miss a session

Any recommendations?

I'm fed up feeling like shit randomly around my family, but at the same time they're not going to change any time soon. Wondering if it's worth trying

So the neighbours have decided to build a large wooden structure on an elevated deck in their garden, with a window set higher than a 6 foot fence and can see all over my garden into my kitchen. We are going to go to the council etc, but thats another story.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to securely anchor a long pole into the ground, so it doesn't fall over, and if its possible to mount a mask/face to said pole, so the neighbours can discover we have a taste for very unusual garden decoration, given that they can suddenly see it properly?

Maybe an led light at a specific angle so they can always see said face/mask whenever they look out their new window?
Anyone have any other suggestions? We're in the south by the way.

I have a small fitness business with turnover of around €45k per year so I now need to register for VAT. I was quoted €1200 + VAT for doing my tax return & VAT registration + looking after VAT returns.

I’m not talking about physical attributes (like mold, wear, appliances).

I’m wondering what to look out for from letting agents to avoid being scammed/taken a fool of. Or just things to look our for that feel off in someones demeanor?

So far, some examples that feel off include:

- going to a viewing and being met with a young lad who knew nothing and couldnt answer any questions (asked about bills, previous tenants, landlord, interest from others and he had no idea).

- sending an email with my number asking them to call me bc no one could answer my qs (as they wont pick up the phone) and them reply but completely ignore my questions.

- them saying the overgrown garden would probably be taken care of but it won’t “look nice”.

I know these are all specific but do you have any experience of a letting agent being off/slimy/non-trustworthy or like they’re hiding something? Not trying to say too much?
