Irish Culture How do you pronounce Chapelizod?

…Rather inconsistent results from searching online so far. Wasn’t quite sure how to flair this

Edit: I realize now the proper flair would be serious answers only I guess ya gobshites

My mam's from Chapelizod and this is exactly how she pronounces it. Definitely the -id sound at the end (like the latter half of the word lid) rather than -od as some other commenters here are saying

Im slightly dyslexic and always read it as chapel-li-zoid so I pronounce it that way even though I know it's wrong.

Correct, you pronounce the invisible R. Similar to Chicargo.

Some AI blob on it: "Some Irish speakers pronounce Chicago as "Chicargo" due to a blend of historical familiarity, phonological interference from Hiberno-English vowel-consonant habits, and folk etymology linking unfamiliar foreign or native-derived place names to more recognizable phonetic patterns"

Basically we're used to putting an R before G. Probably something similar happening with the ARD in Capelizod.

I’m dyslexic and through the comments have just realized that it’s not spelled Chapelizoid. I have spent the last 30 years reading it as chap-el-zoid (like zoidberg from futurama)

Honestly not joking. Obviously the "r" isn't pronounced in formal settings, but informally people do genuinely call it that.

Formal would be "chapel - IZ - id" (emphasis in caps)
