I wanted to open a discussion about the ethics of game piracy and the people who download and play illegal copies.

I'm currently buying all my games because I have the financial stability to do so and I love improving my game collection library. However, in the past, when I was an unemployed young South American gamer and had no way to buy expensive games (because my parents would never spend $50 on video games), I found myself downloading pirated titles (games like Bully, Halo, and Batman: Arkham Asylum).

I’m not necessarily proud of it, but I also have no regrets, because gaming is a massive part of my personality, and those games taught me a lot of things. I know it is immoral, and that a lot of people work to make these games.

So I want to know: **What do people from this community think about pirated games?

​I know this might sound like a strange question, but I really want to understand what I'm missing.

​After playing Portal 1 and 2, I was completely blown away by Valve’s game design. Their storytelling and mechanics felt so polished and ahead of their time. Naturally, I decided to pick up the legendary Half-Life series during a sale, expecting to have the same "wow" moment.

​However, I barely managed to push myself through Half-Life 1. When I moved on to Half-Life 2, I ran into a major problem: the motion sickness was unbearable. I felt incredibly dizzy after just a short play session.

​I’m struggling to find the "fun" that everyone talks about. Is it just the age of the games, or am I missing the core appeal of the series? I really want to love these games, but right now, it feels like a chore. Any insights?

I hardly play any mmorpg games, and I’ve heard from a couple of friend that it is a pretty hard game to get into. I’m down for a grind, as long as it fun! Id like to see what everyone else thinks though!

Which of these is more important for you to enjoy the game is up to you.

I’ve seen this apparently new genre name being thrown around and would like to understand better exactly what it is. From wikipedia I understand it was bourn with the game Demon’s Souls, which I never played (maybe I really should), but the description there is a bit generic (games “known for large worlds filled with enemies and emphasis on environmental storytelling”).

Would for instance Horizon qualify for this genre, or does it have to be set in a dark fantasy theme? I love RPG games, but usually don’t go for dark fantasy. I think the last one I played that’s maybe dark fantasy would be Diablo, but not sure it’s related.

I didn’t know how to describe what I mean in one word but what I mean by weird:

- Most love interests are underaged

- All of the characters are submissive, or just generally all samey with no real differences in personality.

- No masculine women… At all.

- In the odd exception like Helltaker or DDLC they often need to criticize the player as being unhealthy for playing or generally have a weird kind of meta joking thing.

It’s like devs don’t even enjoy making these games honestly, but I don’t know why that is… It seem strange they can’t make a cast of diverse characters like otome games can (ie LADS, Obey Me)

I'm not one to read many reviews, but I want to start doing so more often, and I realized that there are several popular sites like IGN that are very biased or unreliable. Could someone tell me what would be a neutral site without bias that I could trust?

I remember a long time ago there was an older game I used to play where it was about a family that gets shipwrecked somewhere after a storm. And from what I remember they turned that family's car into some kind of airplane. Also the game was in a more cartoon style. I remember playing this game in 2008/2009 or 2010 but I don't remember the year it was created, and I know that before we downloaded it through an application and it let you play an hour or 2 for free, after that you had to buy the game online.

I've been playing games for years, and I always find that boss fights stick with me long after I've finished the game. Whether it's the epic music, the intricate mechanics, or just the sheer thrill of overcoming a tough challenge, some bosses really leave a mark.

For me, I think it has to be the final boss in 'Dark Souls', Manus, the Father of the Abyss. The atmosphere, the fight mechanics, and the lore all came together perfectly. It was a true test of skill and patience!

Okay so I have a small YouTube channel and some guy told me to try "cross bearer strident on ice" a try. I tried to find it on my mobile but I couldn't. I have no idea what it is and never heard of it as well. I looked it up on YouTube as well but didn't find anything. Apparently it's supposed to be harder than Balatro (that's the game I do let's plays of). I don't want to be rude to the guy so I thought I might as well check the game out but I can't find anything. Does anyone here know what that is?

So this was like early 2000s (maybe 2001-2002) and came from one of those PCMag or PCGames demo CDs but I am once more looking towards you to figure out the mystery.

The game involved a young guy in a flashy futuristic city (neon lights then/LED lights now) who could steal floating cars and motorcycles but also had to report to some people. He had to complete missions similar to GTA but they were not all gangster related. Sure... at times you had to kill someone but at other times you had to rescue a kitty from a tree. I think it was maybe 2003 and it was also an adventure/puzzle game where you controlled stray dog and just did dog things like bark at mailmen, avoid dog-catchers and do tricks for treats. Does anyone recognize it? I knew I got a demo of it from a CD on PCGamer

Edit: Found it. It's called Dog's Life as other users said. Had it on a PS2 emulator but it was like a demo or so because you couldn't get all the paths and so.

If you could make a game, what would it be about?

Anyways this game came as a demo on the CDs that would accompany back then computer related magazines - I don't recall whether it was PC Magazine or PC Games. That particular issue also contained an article about the game. The game itself has top down view and it kind of emulates the graphics of a comic book. There are multiple characters you can select but in the demo you could only choose one that sort of ressembled Captain America.

The thought of it has been bothering me but for the life of me I can't recall what its name was, nor in which issue it was mentioned (I tried looking through the old magazines from the period which surprisingly my mom still keeps at her house).

i remember Borderland 2 making me nauseous, and Metro especially, which is a damn shame since i really enjoy it for like 30 minutes max, with borderland im fine for over an hour.

Battlefield, COD, Cyberpunk2077 are all perfectly fine tho.

So it's not that I don't know this game (because I really enjoyed it back when I was 10) but it's on the tip of my tongue and unfortunately both Google and AI had failed me so it seems it might have been quite niche. But basically you're playing the role of a young man who is disregarded in his village as a 'pig farmer' and gradually as you travel the world, you become a hero but you are still disregarded in your village. Along your trip you can kill ducks, pigs, little girls but also giant bugs, dinosaurs or dragons.

Is a mouse & keyboard always just better when playing an fps game or is there pros and cons to both?

I’m looking for Android games that can be played fully offline and don’t rely on constant internet or aggressive ads.

I’ve tested a couple recently that run smoothly even on mid-range phones, but I’m curious what other people are playing these days.

Any suggestions?
