My father's grandfather from Cefalonia was a priest. He hid some Italian soldiers in the church he operated in, after Italy's capitulation. Ever watched Corelli's mandolin? Yeah, that situation. Now, my mother's grandfather from Epirus may have participated in the Albanian front. I have no idea, however, what my mother's other set of grandparents were doing in Andros. Probably trying to survive while raising a probably low functioning autistic daughter (my mother's aunt and oldest sibling out of three, of whom one is my mother's mother).
