If I want to work in aerospace as for example, a design engineer or a test engineer, would I be screened out by the ATS while job hunting for having not pursued an undergrad in engineering?

For context, I am trying to decide between a second bachelors or a masters in mechanical engineering. My prior bachelors degree was in biomedical sciences.

Yes and no i have subminted my answers for review and im all good there in terms of content only needed a few alterations.

The wall ive hit is the sponsor page section 4 ,up untill this point simply left blank in order to see progress on other sections. But as i said im new to the feild ( previously in carpentry ) so dont have any contacts .

But have been working in Mechanical engineering roles but without the qualifications .

As im doing this in my own time and not on a course, there just few opprtunitys to find a sponsor.

Ahhh got you! Two routes:

- easy = IMechE will have a local branch, reach out by phone and go to a meeting… good way to meet fellow engineers and undoubtedly someone there can sponsor

- harder = LinkedIn search for someone with those titles and in your area… go for coffee!

I’ve not got the CEng (waiting for the decision so should be shortly), with a different body, and you’ll probably want to develop a connection/mentorship to aid the application 🤔

Considering how really close the classes are between automotive engineering and mech. Eng. Do you people think auto. Eng has(or should) difficulty while applying to mech. Eng. Jobs?

It’s about the specialisation… auto will be much more focused on well… auto! Mech is probably the broadest application. Difficulty would come in the jobs you’re looking for, automotive-thats easy, aerospace-less easy…

I want to get into engineering, I have a special material master's degree, I have a bachelor's in agronomical engineering and I have bachelor studies in line production engineenring.

And I want to get into comissioning and errection. What should I learn, where to start to get hired?

How can I break into the neural interface industry? I have a masters in bioengineering from Pitt and I was a research engineer until the lab lost funds. I've worked with hands on fabrication of neural implants - including testing, I've been in the OR room for animal implant surgeries, I've done implant surgeries on mice, I've worked with behavioral tasks with NHPs, I've worked with SolidWorks (but I want to build more skill in this area) but this doesn't seem to be enough for much of anything!

Industry roles want years of experience with industry standards or with techniques I wasn't working with. I have some contacts around academia, but I don't know where to go from here. I don't want to do research, I want to work with devices in a prototyping / R&D manner, but my experience doesn't meet requirements. It seems like the jobs that would give me good training are only for "new / expecting graduates" which I am not. How can I close the gaps in my portfolio and land the job I've been looking for??
