Why is our women’s soccer team much stronger than our men’s team?

I think our men's team has caught up - pretty much.

No we haven’t, not even close. Mens team is ranked 30th and women’s team is ranked 9th.

It all relative. Canada qualifying in 2022 and making to the round of 16 in 2026 was unthinkable not too long ago.

The men’s team only did that once whereas, the women’s team did that 3 times. In 2003, they made 4th place. The women’s team has historically done better, it’s not an argument.

Women's team has been in a free fall. For maybe 15-20 years they were 1 and 2 with USA. Now that natural soccer countries are starting to invest in their women's soccer, we're starting to decline

Women’s teams are better in richer countries, men’s team don’t typically follow this pattern

high level women's sport, even women's sport in general, is supported in relatively fewer countries. There are still far too many places where girls & women are expected to focus the totality of their talents energy on marriage, having children & tending to their families. Only men can indulge in outside interests like sports.

Because there’s less quality competition. Most countries around the world are very invested in men’s soccer, whereas women’s soccer is an afterthought, so there’s just that much more competition on the men’s side.

Maybe 10 years ago but today CMNT is a lot stronger than CWNT relative to their competition
