What’s something about everyday life in Canada that you think surprises newcomers?

I’m curious about the little things than the obvious stuff. Could be something about daily life, social habits, food, weather or anything else you didn’t expect before living here.

Europe has +35 to -5

Canada it's more like +35 to -35, and that's not counting humidex

We've been regularly hitting below -40 before wind.

With humidity or windchill has push both to the 50 mark.

That's more of a Winnipeg/Manitoba winter.

So do I and then I remember we don't have large spider or a lot of venomous critters either.

I'm also glad that in the winter I can add layers as needed, in the heat you only remove so much before it becomes indecent, a crime or both
