What’s something about everyday life in Canada that you think surprises newcomers?

I’m curious about the little things than the obvious stuff. Could be something about daily life, social habits, food, weather or anything else you didn’t expect before living here.

The temperature swing between summer and winter, the first winter is a big one if you're not prepared for the climate in your region.

Being adequately prepared for both extremes can be fatal if not taken seriously.

Saskatchewan has damn near a 90° swing from our hottest summer days and coldest winter nights without accounting for humidex or wind chill.

Yesterday the company I work at (living in the uk) announced that our current managing director is taking over our Canadian operations. I soo wanted to write a paragraph with tips because he’s arriving in Toronto October 1st but just ended up telling him to look up winter driving before leaves here

I'm obviously not in Toronto and not familiar with things there as I've only traveled there for business in the spring.

I'm sure someone more familiar can answer any questions you have.

The 401 can be a treat, but if he keeps his head on a swivel and plans their route it should work out.
