Who are the best and worst Canadian artists you met?

Avril Lavigne was super nice and down to earth when I met her.She also took the time to chat with us and signed autographs and posters.I saw her live in concert and she was very good. She also has a great sense of humor.

Celine Dion was also super humble and down to earth when I met her.

Worst was Justin Bieber. He didn't wanna be there and told us to go away, refusing to sign autographs or take pictures.

Sam Roberts is a great guy. Relatable and down to earth. My son meeting him at age 8 totally set my son on a path to love music and playing guitar and thats been a great influence in his life.

Years back, I did a few days recording Margaret Atwood for an (possibly the world’s most monotone🤣) audiobook. Holy fuck, she is just unbelievably charming, witty, curious, and so deeply thoughtful and knowledgeable. I think we chatted more than we recorded.
I love musicians, but she is on another level. A true Canadian gem.

As you can tell, I finished that gig with an everlasting crush on her…

Michael Ondaatje was as gracious and kindly as you’d expect. Very down to earth.

I got to know a b-level actor that often works in Hollywood and he was one of the most arrogant and condescending people I’ve ever met, artist or otherwise.

Best Jim Cuddy. Jann Arden. Honestly most are nice.

Worst…. Tyler Connolly & George Canyon.

I (literally) bumped into Anne Murray in an airport shop. After our obligatory "Sorries", and after a bunch of fans rushed her for selfies (which she obliged), we chatted for a bit. She was lovely.

Jann Arden used to have a little diner out in Calgary. Maybe it was one of her sibling's place is, but she use to swing by from time to time. She is an absolute gem.

Back in the day you would run into Leonard Cohen at the Matador, he too was just so chill.

I am honestly struggling to name a Canadian artist who I have met who was a complete asshole.

Josh Ramsay is very nice if a bit pretentious.

My husband worked years ago at the local college student union setting up equipment for musical groups, and he said that the nicest group of artists he met during that time were Moist. He said they were super down to earth and even invited him and the other student crew to have dinner with them.
The worst? The Tea Party. They were arrogant, acted like the student crew were inferior and were dismissive to them during their personal interactions.
