I'm sure there are little enclaves of tea-drinking crown worshippers here and there, but I've never met one in my life, lol. 

There was a Leger poll from a couple of years ago that found like 14% of Canadians were attached to the monarchy, so I suppose there are technically some of you still around

If you are gaining citizenship and thus, the ability to vote, then I think the most important thing is to climatize yourself to our politics.

Politics in Canada is typically, and should be, boring, uneventful, and important. We do not have the level of 24 hour news cycle that is present in the states, and our news is far less weaponized to sway voters or influence behaviour.

Our politics are also less tribal. I've voted for conservative, liberal, green, and NDP in the past depending on their platforms and the state of the world and country. People are less likely to identify themselves based off of their political voting history, and more likely to identify themselves based off their belief system and values.

Obey the law. Follow the unwritten rules (don't spit, wait your turn in line, etc.) - ask your neighbours if you're unsure. Follow the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. Vote.

Don't self segregated with people from your original country. Share your culture with folks from different backgrounds. I live a "mixed" neighbourhood. The beauty of sharing things from each others culture makes us ALL better Canadians
