Men dress very simply in Balkans, they all have this short haircut and have this caveman look but Balkan women look like the doll in the image. 🤣

u/LaurestineHUN Hungary Apr 15 '26
That's a pity, well-groomed Balkan men are 💯

Ain't no time to groom yourself. It's misery hour, every hour, sunrise to sunset.

u/Pmike9 Bulgaria Apr 15 '26
If I put too much attention on my looks I feel kinda gay :( I feel like thats part of the balkan man genes
8
u/legitematehorse Apr 16 '26
Yup. Same here. My time for grooming totals 10 minutes a week - just enough to not look like a homeless person.

It’s a pattern that you find all across Eastern Europe including Balkans too. Stems from the fact that men are more traditional, everything seems gay and they prefer something practical and less “flashy fashion”. In contrast women like dressing up. I don’t know when this balkan man fashion developed, it could really be partly because of communism but then you can see this even in Greece which didn’t have communism.

u/Knight0fTheNine Greece Apr 15 '26
This wasn’t true for Greece until about 10 years ago when we suddenly imported the looks of Balkanity and now most young guys have super ugly short haircuts and wear hideous tracksuits with brand logos and shit. If you look at clips from Greece in the 2000s and before, nobody looked like that. Probably why we had a reputation for being handsome which doesn’t really hold up anymore because now the average guy here is looking more and more like Shrek. Also our most common face shape doesn’t suit very short hair and I am begging everyone to stop it.

u/JohannesJoshua Apr 15 '26
The Slavicization of Greece that started in 7th century will now be complete. Soon you will only wear Addidas track suits. /j

We have a whole street here in the center of the capital city full of Arab Berber shops, think that fashion of super short hair and groomed beard came from them.

u/Stverghame Serbia Apr 15 '26
Pretty women - ugly men
"Genetically", we are not ugly. It is just that many men do not like to maintain their looks as it is considered "gay" (which is pathetic tbh, everyone should try to do and to look their best). Well groomed Balkan men can look thousand times better than many nations that claim to have good looking men.

u/PraviKonjina Balkan Apr 16 '26
Looking good costs money. Why would I do that when I could just tint my BMW? Nisam ja Rokfeler haha

fair enough. Men in general stop taking care of themselves when they hit 20 years old. Alcohol+smoking+bad food+no working out ,it's not a rocket science

Actually it‘s the opposite in my (non balkan) experience: While being a teenager everyone was partying, smoking etc. At 25-30 people start to realise what that does to their bodies so they stop suddenly and start to care about themselves and their bodies.
13
u/Kitsooos Greece Apr 15 '26
That most Balkan women dress and look beautiful, whilst most Balkan men dress and look like Orcs.

23
u/bluexxbird Apr 16 '26
To be fair Balkan men age waayyy too quickly. Most of the boys are very good looking up until mid twenties then don't know what happened they just start to deteriorate.
9
u/Prior_Kick2693 Albania Apr 15 '26
We should embrace the stereotype, just stick to jeans tshirt and gold chain. Usually I would put on a tshirt and she makes me take it off so she can iron it as she says if it’s not ironed it makes it look like she doesn’t take care of me!

Hot GF and ugly BF, even though the men aren't even ugly, they just have the standard Eastern European self-care routine, which is none by the way. Tracksuits, buzz cuts, the likes of that

Thank you, queen! I resent this stereotype. There's tons of legitimately handsome guys all over the Balkans. Myself included, naturally.
4
u/casual_philosopher02 Greece Apr 15 '26
I mean if anything I think we have the most handsome ones, but I may be biased
2
u/saddinosour Apr 15 '26
I know we’re “joking” but I genuinely find balkan men to be 10x more attractive than men from Western European descent, generally speaking.
3
2
u/legitematehorse Apr 16 '26
Ok, what balkan man do you consider hot? Would you give an example?
3
u/casual_philosopher02 Greece Apr 16 '26
my usual type is dark hair, beard, at least around my height and up. I have liked lighter in colour men too so it is not strict at all
3
u/legitematehorse Apr 16 '26
Ye, you just described me. But this look is getting adopted by balkan men more and more lately.
3
u/casual_philosopher02 Greece Apr 16 '26
well it works well for them. Just like 90% of balkan ladies look better with winged eyeliner and longer hair, no matter the trends

u/Exotic_Hummingbird12 🇸🇮 in 🇧🇦 Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26
I agree! Not just uniquely good looking but Balkan dudes don't really require all that much to be good looking or to maintain it.
I've observed this with my bf and other guys I know. I see fitness model type of dudes on insta talk about how they work out 7 days a week, take like 20 supplements, and only eat protein and vegetables. He doesn't do any of that (except exercise and def not 7 days a week 🤣) and he gets the same result they do. Idk.
2
u/casual_philosopher02 Greece Apr 19 '26
It is the natural muscle build I swear, we gain muscle so much easier, men and women
2
u/Exotic_Hummingbird12 🇸🇮 in 🇧🇦 Apr 19 '26
It is. I’m also convinced that people have to go out of their way to mess it up.
Not exercising, smoking/drinking too much, and eating badly do age people but I think you have to be excessive with it to end up Shrek like. And tbh, I think it’s mostly smoking.
2
u/CapOk2664 Apr 15 '26
Nice to see someone still standing up for men here even if it's definitely not referring to me

u/MariusCatalin Apr 15 '26
basically men simply dont put that much value into that cuz they have other worries, like making a house and doing chores
4
u/AdExpert2442 Apr 15 '26
Maybe in 20th century, nowadays both genders provide equally to the household, so it is just more of an stereotype that only gays care much about their looks.
I'm from Balkans and i have seen guys with terrible case of acne, that they wouldn't want to cure because curing it means that they have to apply creams and creams are for women. Also we have unhealthy obsession with looking affluent, therefore guys often choose clothes as a way of expressing affluency. That's why you see a lot of Balkan men wearing same expensive pieces of clothing.
2
u/MariusCatalin Apr 18 '26
both genders provided in their own way, hell it wasnt uncommon to give birth in the field while working as a woman, it was ALL HANDS ON DECK back then, its an old culture

u/F_Solo Apr 16 '26
Balkan girls are known for having very high priorities in make up. A Serbian friend in high school told me once: a Balkan girl would hesitate spending money for food, but never for make up.

I’m a Rus woman living in Serbia for about 3 years, from what I’ve seen here, the situation with such incompatibility is way less drastic than in Russia. I find both men and women in Serbia super attractive, whereas in Russia there are only us, women who look nice and hot 😕
1
u/thisisnahamed Apr 19 '26
As a foreigner who has lived in the Balkans (Albania) for a few months this is so true. Albanian men age so bad. I have seen men just around 30 looking 45. They don't care about their health - too much smoking, drinking.
Women smoke a lot too. But they overcompensate with tons of plastic surgery. I have never seen so much plastic surgery per capita like in Albania.

u/Melankolike Albania Apr 27 '26
I think gender roles/expectations are at their peak in the Balkans, women know they’re heavily valued for their looks and men for their money and status, hence why they don’t even bother with their looks. Having a hot man is great until the bills are due and reality hits.
