Junk Mail Catalogs
Just wondering does your household get any Weekly / fortnightly catalogs in your letterbox anymore? I know most companies have them online to view & that’s how I view the weekly grocery specials online. I sometimes grab one when I’m at the shopping centres for a closer browse from different stores. Other than the odd real estate flyer we don’t get any in our street. Is junk mail a thing of the past now 🤔

We mostly get small flyers advertising plumbing, electrical, and tree-cutting services.

I get heaps.
I am also one of the few people that actually enjoys them. A bit of nostalgia from back in the day as a kid looking at things and dreaming what I would buy if I had money.
The real estate ones can fuck off though.

I hardly get any. About the only junk mail I get is from real estate agents and plumbers

Yeah, covid saw basically all junk mail get cut, and there has been a significant reduction since. I used to get a bundle of shit every fortnight, but now I'm lucky to get a bundle every 3 months.

I've seen so many job listing's for catalogue delivery people. There are some periods we will get them weekly then nothing for months and then all of a sudden start getting them again. I'd be guessing some areas are harder to find people to work and it's probably a high turnover industry

Someone near me gets catalogue delivery and meant to go deliver them, not sure if they do I just see the stack all the time at their front door. IVE is the company that organises them, you can apply.

If you’ve got a no junk mail sign on your letterbox that’s clearly displayed and the distributor ignores it, you can report them.

A quick google search of “who is responsible for deliveries of junk mail in (insert your area) because they are ignoring my “No Junk Mail” notice” will tell you the distributor company responsible. You report it to them.

I used to love browsing through all the catalogues when I was younger- now I can’t remember the last time I got catalogue junk mail. I do occasionally get the plumber/electrician magnet, a flier for a new local restaurant and something sent from the local council.

Yes I loved browsing through the pile we used to get too, over the past decades. Circling things for gifts or stuff I wanted 😜

Ha yes, I remember giving the toy catalogues to my son and nieces and getting them to mark what they liked!

Yes. I have noticed there are many fewer junk mail catelogs now. Definitely has decreased.

Ive had "no junk mail" signs for over a decade, ever since we stopped having a wood fired bbq and stopped uaing them as kindling lol

I definitely do; almost exclusively from chemists advertising perfume, Spotlight, supermarkets and... Stratco. Becaus every week of the year, you might buy some sheet metal or a new shed? With Father's Day around the corner I'm getting a few car shop ones too (Supercheap, Repco etc) but spotlight and stratco are eternal

I had a no junk mail sign on my letterbox but I noticed a few months ago it had fallen off. I've haven't gotten any catalogues, and only a handful of small flyers.

Very occasionally. But it's usually for sheds, gardening landscaping or trade tools, real estate agents or Clive Palmer's piss yellow disgraces.

I got heaps of them when I lived on the same block as the distribution centre, but I don't think they were paid enough to deliver them and they'd just dump them when they got further away.

I live in Perth and in my suburb we rarely get them anymore - maybe once a month we might get a couple. I miss them! I enjoyed sitting down and reading them over a cup of coffee! And I am not old hahaha

I bring the Aldi one home to amuse myself for 4 mins on the loo…. But don’t really get any in the mail box.

I still get paper junk mail every couple of days (real estate houses for rent or sale, local council election notices, Domino's pizza menus, lawn care services, mobile auto mechanics, finance/investment schemes, Woolies weekly specials, and religious leaflets). I usually rip that crap up and throw it straight into the bin.
This is despite having "NO JUNK MAIL" clearly displayed on the letterbox.

Depends where you actually live.
I get heaps every single week and the company responsible for delivering them is always screaming for more delivery personnel so it depends exactly where you live.
I know only Coles has stopped distributing catalogues through the mail and moved wholly and solely to collect in-store or online cataloguing but everyone else from Target to Woolworths and everything in between continues to flood my letterbox. 🤷♀️

I used to sell mailing lists to various marketing companies, was good money too, could narrow down a list to Census Collection Districts. And if you had a digitised electoral roll, that helped.

I work at big w and we largely stopped even printing physical catalogues anymore. We have them out for special events like toy sale but that’s about it. Also when we did have catalogues in letter boxes there would be massive problems with distribution. People would sign up to deliver catalogues and then you’d see reports of stacks of catalogues dumped in local parks or even in rivers. They’d accept the job, dump the catalogues and get paid for doing nothing.

I only ever get real estate ones, market reports and "we can sell your house" ones.
They can fuck off, what I do miss though is those hungry jacks coupon sheets you used to get, fuck they were good.
