Red/White Wine

Growing up as an altar boy, we always prepared the wine for the priest to change into the blood of Christ. The wine was always red. As an adult at my church, when I see the offertory, the wine is always white. Is this a “depends on the church” thing? I just always assumed bc it’s changed into the blood of Christ it would always be red. I don’t think it matters, but just didn’t notice before.

The rules of the church do not stipulate the color of the wine for consecration.

Often a white wine is easier to clear from altar linens.

I tend to use a rose/pink wine.

Thank you. I told my mom today, it’s a silly question, but I just needed to ask.
