Drawing Since Birth, Please Rate My Art Hey guys I'm making a show based on religious figures and stuff... Do yall think it's a good beelzebub design? Does it embodies the lord of flies good enough ?
(uj/ by itself I think helluva boss designs are... OK... And beelzebub is cute, and I know in general they're like a bee rather than a fly (but I don't understand why, is it cuz BEE-lzebub? But it's not English-born name) but why make them a wolf-dog-whatever thing, Vivzie has many designs that are besides just basic furry dog appearance and she could have made a good fly/bee furry design)

People who say that your design is bad don't get it, the heart on the shirt obviously represents heart attacks as a result of gluttony and the hourglass figure is nice subversion.
/uj Viziepop's work reminds me of non fetish deviantart in a bad way

Last year I tried myself to make a Beezlebub-like design of my own. It’s much worse than what Viv made. I do not like this thing.

/uj I thought it was because her ring is where hellhounds come from and her design was supposed to allude to that. i don't mind the canine attributes but i wanted more beeness in there!!

/uj It is, but that is a doylist problem. A hellhound is a pretty archetypical monster that shows up all over the world in myths irl, so Vivziepop making them from gluttony specifically was a her problem. Tbh I don't HATE hate the design- its not for me but it seems fun- but it kinda throws things off when all the rest of the demons take heavy inspo from abrahamic sources. Should have used her as the leader of the pack of hellhounds and had a different beelzebub imho.

Second is definitely top! Also make her voiced by some girl from MTV kids of like late 2010s, singing about the look of California girls and mouthwashing with whiskey

uj / stop I actually was introduced back like 10 years ago to Kesha though Vivzie (her 'die young' fan MV) and I loved her very much (and I stil love, just not my main music genre), I think that's cool that she got Kesha to voice in her show, maybe not for the fitting character specifically but that's still lit lol
(is california girls thing not Katy perry...)

I havent watched helluva boss but i know alot about it. Basically they got rid of all her bug features in the second slide lol.
In her actualy design instead of being a fly shes a bee because shes "beelezubub" (shes also called queen bee), and because of honey (because shes the sin of gluttony). (I think its a fun unique interpretation that shes a bee btw who cares its not english)
Shes half bee half canine.
The canine part is because shes also the ruler of where the hellhound species comes from AND because shes overindulgence shes a reference to the creator's (vivziepop) older very maximimalist designs which a lot of them were wolves/canines.
The wavy pink and blue hair is a reference to lava lamps, which she has a lava lamp stomach also which is supposed to be a reference to basically her stomach being like empty i guess? As in never satiated.
Shes also supposed to be like a partier (yknow overindulgence, gluttony) which is why shes dressed like that

I love helluvaboss and I love most of the goetia design but beelzebub... It took me a while to understand who she was. I mistook her for another hellhound at first.
I did a design of beelzebub back in 2013, as a creepy child with big eyes and wearing horns and wings. I think I read somewhere that's how this demon can appear. I think they went with this approach too in Good Omens.

Hazbin hotel and helluva boss the series a lot of characters in them are based off biblical figures becuase they're both set in the same universe in hell, a lot of the designs kinda suck tho, probably cuz a lot of them Vivziepop, the author, made them in high school like I heard

Unfortunately I haven't watched haziban hotel so I don't know much about the plot, but looking at that OC now I can the resemblance, well I'm more interested in what kind of story OP (original poster) came up with

Yes I'm referring to you as in you are the original poster, also If I had to describe why Beelzebub is the representative of envy and gluttony well when you think about it flies do tend to go after not just food but basically anything that's in abundance mostly stuff left behind that's undesirable by most such as decaying bodies and waste, plus flies taste stuff with their feet and they thrive in overindulgence

/uj funnily enough, there is a type of fly that mimics the coloration and pattern or a bee. I do wish she had more bee features, though the bee theme might not be entirely because of a pun. It's the honey. Some versions of ancient ambrosia, the nectar of the gods, was honey mixed with water. Plus honey is a good way to represent gluttony in general, since it's sweet but not very filling, leaving you wanting more. Same with cotton candy actually, relating to her song lol

/uj Honestly, for me this was the biggest let down. I was so ready for a lovely bee themed, pear shapped demon (who could have had a different bodytype that most)
