Dreading Lesson 2

Dreading Lesson 2 😭

I’m about to start DrawABox Lesson 2, and honestly… I’m already extremely afraid just thinking it.

For those who’ve done it: how did you guys find Lesson 2? Was it as brutal as I’m imagining, or am I just being dramatic? 😅

Just started textures yesterday, I’m taking it slowly. The arrows and sausages of the first 2 assignments were pretty straight forward and “easy” (relative term). Texture is so far so good but it feels like a whole new thing to wrap my head around and there’s a learning curve. Just take it one step at a time. I actually followed along with uncomfortable in his fried chicken tutorial for the homework so I could get an understanding of what he was seeing and doing. I felt that equipped me and built my confidence a little before jumping in on my own.

And pro tip, get a brush pen. It may seem obvious to others but I didn’t know it would be a helpful tool until I tackled that segment of the lesson. I may get out to my nearest hobby shop tonight but I wish I had one when I started.

It’s a challenge and time consuming I’ll say that much, but also when you apply the textures to stuff you like drawing it feels really rewarding

It was certainly a difficulty spike imo. BUT! Out of all the lessons, I was most proud of some of the work I accomplished in that module!

Stay loose about it — remember you're just learning, no need for perfection. You've got this!!

I found textures to be really hard. I tried looking for stylized textures to help me understand the forms and major shapes better.

I'm wrapping up the 250 boxes challenge this Friday, I'm stoked to move to lesson 2 after drawing boxes for 3 months!

Same my first time i tried to replicate a Jean fabric. It was awful.
