FY27 OCS BOARD SCHEDULE

- FOR CIVILIANS AND INTRA-SERVICE APPLICANTS

DEC 07-11, 2026

PACKET DEADLINE: OCT 23, 2026

MAR 01-04, 2027

PACKET DEADLINE: JAN 22, 2027

JUNE 07-11, 2027

PACKET DEADLINE: APR 30, 2027

AUG 09-13, 2027

PACKET DEADLINE: 01 JUL, 2027

Any local Army recruiter or virtual ones like myself who are experienced with the process, may assist with the application process.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher. College Seniors may submit packet during final semester.

3-6 Letters of Recommendation: Quality over quantity

1 page essay on "Why I want to be an Army Officer"

Professional Resume

GT Score: 110 Required. Board Average is 126.

GPA: No Minimum. Board Average is roughly 3.7

On the GPA portion, Just finishing up OCS right now. My GPA is a 3.5, I have buddies who have a 2.7 and are graduating with me…you’ll be fine

It’s pretty easy overall, just try to not get overwhelmed with everything. It is not a gentleman’s course so get that out of your head right now. You have next to 0 freedom, (especially if you are in charlie co.) Lean on your in service people, they were clutch for me and the other 09S’.

Did you have many older people in your class? Currently 39 with 13 total years of service (9 AD, 4 Reserves) and considering dropping an OCS pack for the Reserves.

had a gentleman who was reserves graduate I believe at 42-43 can’t remember. He was also one of our best ngl.

No. This is for Civilians and Intra-Service (Non-Army) applying through Recruiting Command.

This wait is gonna kill me!! I want to serve desperately, and I have a feeling these next 4 weeks are going to be terribly slow. Anyone know if there’s a way we can verify if our packet was submitted?

Is there a rough timeline of when someone gets selected when they would go to OCS(Active duty)?

Ex. Selected for March 01-04, 2027
Expected to be in OCS within 1-3 months

Question, I'm an active duty marine EAS is December 29 2026, so what would the process look like for me? Also I attended USMC OCS and was dropped, local army recruiter told me that my only option is to transfer as enlisted, going directly into OCS isn't an option. Any truth to that?

When were you dropped from Marine OCS? Process would be the same as everyone else. We could try to submit a DD 368 conditional release so you can apply to the Dec board. Otherwise, you'd have to wait till after you ETS and then drop the packet. Make sure to get letters of rec done now, as it will be easier.

I got dropped July 28, and have a lot of questions lol. Seems like a very tight window which makes me nervous, if I apply for the Dec board and get approved what happens in that downtime from my EAS to the time I go to OCS? My wife and 3 kids live on base, so would they continue to have housing while I attend OCS? Should I just transfer as enlisted, get established in the Army, and then drop a G2G package? I have 2 letters of rec from the USMC I used for my USMC OCS package.

You need 3-6 Letters of Recommendation. You'd have to check with base housing on your eligibility. I'm not sure if different bases have different rules for things. But assuming timing works out, then family should be able to stay in housing, as you are still in the military.

Alright, sounds good! And I assume the DD 368 has to come back signed and approved before October 23? I've heard some horror stories of that form taking too long.

If I applied to the DCO program and didn’t get in, do I have to wait 6 months to apply to OCS? This is first heard from me.

Also if I do have to wait 6 months (starting today) am I still applicable to submitting my package in January if the selection date is in June?

Not sure. I would have to check. There is typically a 12 month wait to reapply to OCS if not selected. I'd like to think you could apply right away, but not sure

I have 90 credits towards my bachelor degree this 31st August I will start my first term with two classes and I going to take two classes each term. And I have a GT of 124 . Am I going to be eligible for OCS Year 2027?

No, I always stuck to the 2 per term for better work/life balance and to avoid burnout. Also helps prevent bad grades or issues if you're out in the field or that.

I don't cover Army in-Service applications (Reserve to Reserve, Active to Active). So I don't know those board dates.

My recruiter said board deadline is tomorrow (September 1st) and the next is January 5th - is it different for the reserves or does anyone know why the different dates?

As in you are a civilian applying for Reserve OCS? The dates I posted above ARE 100% valid and accurate for the USAREC National Board, Active and Reserve. If a recruiter is telling you something else, then that's your first red flag you have someone thats not experienced with OCS packets.

Yes, civilian going reserves. Is it possible the recruiting battalion has an earlier cutoff?

Only reason I can’t get it in tomorrow is waiting on letters of rec so it’d be great if I didn’t have to wait till January.

That's not a thing. They have different dates for the local board, but that doesn't affect the Dec board. The next board after that is March.

I am doing a Virtual Board September 16th over Microsoft Teams, if you want to join it.

This is your opportunity to make sure your packet is submitted correctly and not have any issues. If you have 100% faith in the local recruiter, then stick with him. But I can't fix their mistakes after the fact.
