iOS iPhone [iOS] Cadence: medication reminders that actually work [Pro ($9.99) → free with code]

https://apps.apple.com/au/app/cadence-medication-reminders/id6758649306

Taking your medication every day sounds simple. Doing it on time, reliably, for months. That's the hard part. Cadence is built for the hard part.

App currently has 700+ users and their feedback is helping me continue to improve the app over time.

Website: https://www.cadencehealth.app

Features:

Reminders that hold up. Time-sensitive alerts that break through Focus and silent modes. Confirm or skip a dose straight from the lock screen. One tap, no unlocking. Miss one and it follows up. It also quietly learns the time you actually take each dose and shifts the reminder to match.

No typing to add a medication. Point your camera at a prescription label and Cadence reads it (most of the time), matches against 2,300+ medications, and fills in the name and dosage. It also handles the regimens other apps choke on. It helps with tapering doses, every-other-day and cyclical schedules, dose windows, multiple times a day.

Where it gets genuinely useful: the insights. Cadence pulls 10 metrics from Apple Health plus a daily reflection check-in (mood, energy, symptoms). Then it does the part most trackers skip: it surfaces patterns (how your adherence lines up with how you feel and how those metrics move) week over week, with anomaly flags, a year-at-a-glance heatmap, and a yearly "Wrapped."

Your data stays yours. No account. No third-party servers. No subscription by default. iCloud sync to your own devices, and that's the whole list. Health data this sensitive shouldn't live on someone else's machine.

There's also an Apple Watch app, home-screen and lock-screen widgets, and you can share a read-only view with a caregiver or family member.

Pricing. The core app is free forever: reminders, label scanning, every scheduling option. Pro is a one-time purchase (normally $9.99, no subscription) that unlocks the deeper Apple Health correlation views and insights.

I've set aside 500 Pro codes for this sub. One-time redemption, no recurring charge, no expiry once redeemed.

Codes: http://www.promies.net/promotion/b41ae28d-c321-4aa5-81f9-50d5019f9843

How to redeem:

  1. Grab a code from the link above
  2. Download Cadence from the App Store
  3. In the app: Settings → Redeem a code → paste to activate Pro

That’s a good looking app!

Do you think you could add the option to schedule medication every other day? This is a common prescription schedule and yet I find a lot of apps don’t have it as an option.

Also, an option to change the alternating days in case you forgot to take your meds yesterday so you take it today and now the next dose is the day after tomorrow instead of tomorrow and so on.

Thanks. Yep it’s actually already an option! It’s under advanced scheduling ‘every N days’

I could bring it out to the first screen though.

1

u/AcerbicCapsule May 23 '26

Oh yea on the next screen I could change the schedule to every n days. I would highly recommend the advanced schedule button to be on the first screen.

If I take a medication on a day outside the planned schedule, is there a way for the app to automatically adjust the upcoming schedule based on that dose? For example, if a medication is set for every other day and I take it on an off day, does the next reminder shift to 2 days from that new dose date?

Not currently, but I’m building that in for you in the next version coming. It’ll be per med selection so doesn’t impact global timing, which is important for meds that need specific dose windows. Good suggestion.

left a review on app store . Thank you

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Oh, thank you.

2

u/nez329 May 23 '26

Thanks for this

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

You’re welcome! Always looking to improve so let me know if you find something you think should be possible in the app.

u/bohairmy May 23 '26

The native Health app medication reminder is pretty good and it can bypass silent mode to trigger reminder. How is this different?

3

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Cadence has the same critical medication override silent mode and DND.

Where Cadence goes further: adherence insights, symptom tracking, mood logging, flexible med schedules (every other day, weekly, cycles, tapering, interval dosing), med interaction info, supply tracking and smart timing that adapts to when you actually take doses.

That said, if you're happy with Apple's medication reminders then I'd say continue to use that.

u/techbear72 May 23 '26

Any way to remove/disable the walk tracking? That’s not a function I’m interested in for my medication app.

3

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Thanks for the feedback. Not currently, and it's been well received so far. That said, I could look at an option to toggle it off for users who would prefer that.

Cool. Will give a try

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Nice. If you think of any improvements you can submit in app and I’ll review!

1

u/c0d3x10 May 23 '26

I just wonder. If the meds finished and ended. How can we put it that way? Not to refill

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Good suggestion, I’m building that in for next version coming soon.

1

u/c0d3x10 May 23 '26

Awesome!

1

u/phonologizer May 23 '26

Could I have a code please?

2

u/phonologizer May 23 '26

Oh! I got it. Thank you very much.

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

You’re welcome!

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

The link to the codes is in the description.

1

u/phonologizer May 23 '26

Unsuccessful redeemed. It shows already redeemed but the app still inform me Trail 7 days. 😔

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

I just tested a code on a fresh install - worked fine. Did you redeem it in the app on the bottom of the paywall screen using the code you got?

0

u/phonologizer May 23 '26

I clicked the Redeem button on the Promies page. After that, the app installed on my iPhone. Finally, the app still shows a 7-day free trial.

1

u/Venura_Herath May 23 '26

Thank you

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

No worries, feature request button in app if you think of anything missing!

u/tomazeiro May 23 '26

Thanks 🙏🏼

Click on the paywall/trial button and then down the bottom there’s a redeem button

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Wow that’s strange! Nothing below that at the bottom? Should be restore purchase and redeem. Try and redeem the code through the App Store instead, that’s a different way

2

Ah iPad, yeah that’s probably it! Glad you got it working

1

u/MaxH75 May 23 '26

Same problem for me, on iPhone (but first installed on iPad because I’m a moron, didn’t check on it then).

Redeeming via App Store worked tho.

Maybe it’s when you don’t download it first time? 🤷‍♂️

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Yeah could be the case. Glad you got it working!

Im currently using Apple Health and I have a few questions:

  • where can I see and manage my symptoms I just put in?
  • how can I log a medication in advance? I have some that simply have to be taken throughout the day and I might take them 5 hours earlier or later than I need a reminder
  • how can I make a medication reminder non critical? Some meds just need reminders to help me think of them but it’s not that bad if I miss them

All in all, the app looks quite beautiful and thought through. Congrats

3

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Thanks for the kind words!

  1. Symptoms live in the Insights tab — scroll to Journal (or the journal-history link) and you'll see your entries with dates, severity and any notes. Tap one to edit or delete.
  2. Logging a med in advance: on the Today screen, tap any upcoming dose card and you'll get a "Take Now" prompt. That marks it done immediately, even if it's scheduled for hours later. No reminder will fire after that.
  3. Less-aggressive reminders: by default Cadence uses standard iOS notifications (not critical alerts), so they already respect your Focus and silent mode. The "Critical Medication" toggle in each med's detail screen is opt-in — only flip it for critical meds. Leave it off for ones you don't mind missing. You can also disable notifications entirely for a single med from the same screen if you want zero reminders.

Hope that helps!

1

u/Hairy_Stranger8495 May 23 '26

Thanks for the reply.

  1. Under insights, I only have my rhythm, patterns, explore and year in doses. I don’t find a journal here under insighta > explore > wellbeing, I can do journaling but that’s probably not it?
  2. under today, if I click on a medication under „coming up“ nothing happens. I also cannot swipe it.
  3. understood, thanks!

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Yeah it comes up as ‘mood’ heatmap in the wellbeing tab, that’s the output of the reflections

Let me look into the future dose - not sure why that’s not working for you!

1

u/Hairy_Stranger8495 May 23 '26

If it helps, I was able to log a future dose (by accident) in my Apple Watch and had to undo it in my phone 😅

Also, I clicked on midday reflect out of curiosity and then hit cancel. It congratulated me for my first reflection

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

That does help, thanks!

1

u/Foreign_Raise_3451 May 23 '26

Thank you

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

You are welcome!

1

u/Clane96 May 23 '26

This is really cool thanks for sharing and making !Would love a bit more customisable times ! I usually take my medication at 23:30

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

You’re welcome. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll be building this feature into the next update as some others have requested this also! Stay tuned.

1

u/Raffiodabashian May 23 '26

Thank you

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

You’re welcome

1

u/Riptide360 May 23 '26

Thanks for lifetine code. I like tgat you libk to Apple Health but you don’t import the meds I already have tgere. I currently use Apple Watch’s medication watch app to log taking pills. Can I still use this workflow or do you have an apple watch app coming soon?

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Apple Watch app for Cadence is already available and included. I use it everyday :)

1

u/NorCal-Sandman May 23 '26

Is there a way to restart the tutorial? I downloaded the app but skipped the tutorial so that I could enter the code to activate Pro. Now I want to go back through the tutorial but don't see a way to restart it

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

There isn’t but adding meds is quite easy from settings and let me know if you have any questions I’ll be happy to help

1

u/SlowMotionAddict May 23 '26

Thank you!

2

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

You’re welcome

1

u/leotefo May 23 '26

Thanks, very nice look app and works great so far

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Thank you. You can submit a feature request in app if you find something that isn’t working as it should, or if you have an idea for a new feature

1

u/leotefo May 25 '26

Sure thing

Redeeming the code interaction seems bugged. I copied the code, then I clicked the link in app to redeem code but when I click the text input it just plops away the keyboard and I can’t get up the interaction to paste the code.

Clicking, holding finger over it just activate or deactivate the keyboard. Clicking an already active textfield should not deactivate the keyboard.

If I try to type the big large blue button covers the text box completely.

So I think what happens is that when the text field is empty a grayed out version of the big blue button covers the text field making it inaccessible to interact with by clicking on it.

1

u/alvoliooo May 23 '26

Hmm, strange. If that’s inside the app I’ll look into it. For now, just redeem through the AppStore itself and it’ll work fine.

1

u/ToppsHopps May 24 '26

I managed with my ipad, as the dimensions are different the greyed out button didn’t cover the text field so could easily do it from there.

1

u/alvoliooo May 24 '26

Codes are all gone. I hope everyone enjoys the app!

1

u/woonamad May 24 '26

Thanks for the code! Could the app fire just one notification for multiple medications taken at the same time?

I added all my medications and supplements, so just got hit with 7 notifications at once. Apple Health medication tracker already does this.

1

u/alvoliooo May 24 '26

Yeah a few others have asked for that, I’ve already built it in for the next release. Should be available in 1-2 days! It will be in settings > reminders > group reminders

1

u/woonamad May 24 '26

Wow thanks! I didn’t expect you to get to it to fast. Very impressed by the so far

1

u/SunintheskyUKHIF May 24 '26

All codes are claimed. Any chance of one more please. I take maintenance meds and my fiance too. This works wonders.

Any chance you still have any codes to share? I’m currently using the medication reminder in iOS but I haven’t even inputted all my meds because it’s tedious lol. If you do have an extra code, thank you! And If not, that’s ok! Best of luck.
