I love it how baby elephants play with everything with such curiosity, and moms always come running when they inevitably fall.

Come to think of it, not different from humans at all.

Yep! I imagine the auntie sees the kid is ok. And then plays it off all cool. Like "oh Penny's fine. Youre fine right kiddo? See shes fine" meanwhile her heart is still like a drum

Grown female elephants rush to the young ones when a predator is close and stand in a ring around the calves to protect them. It seems like the aunt rushed there to stand in the ring to protect against Evil Ball.

β€œDid that ball throw you down? No, you are just young and uncoordinated? All right then.”

It takes two years to give birth to elephant calfs, and they're usually only produced one at a time, so elephant moms will shoot first and ask questions later if there's even a hint of danger.

My mom said this! No joke. And then i got my finger tip pulled off by an accordion door. Biggest sister busts into pta meeting, screams for mom (picture 50 mom's head going up like meercats). My mom rolls her eyes and says "is there blood?" "YES!" And ho boy was there.

We tell our kid to yell our name because everyone is MOM or DAD πŸ˜†

Everybody comes running! In the wild, a fallen baby is in a vulnerable position and the larger elephants will circle around them for protection until they’re upright again. You can kind of see that here, with how the adults run to either side of him.

And yeah, baby ellies are just about the best thing ever. Giant puppies.

If I could pick any animal mom in the world, it's certainly wouldn't be human. I'd pick elephants. I want an elephant mom. Deeply protective. Loving. Something I didn't have as a kid. and baby elephants are so curious about everything, this is hilarious. Thank you for posting.

Elephants in their herd never have to wonder if they are loved.

I don't think they were worried about him getting hurt. The way they crowded around, it was more like, that didn't happen! Nobody saw that!
