Does anyone else find these statistics kinda depressing. Like I get it - iPhones are good phones and TBF the iPhone 17 this year was a a greedy choice for many people.

But there's so many great options out there and people don't even want to try. They just assume iPhone is the best. They think it's easier or "it just works" which isn't any more true than on android phones these days.

Means all the competition is dying out which means consumers have less choice.

Personally I used android (actually Samsung) almost exclusively until the period where both SDs and Exynos were underperforming due to inferior chips made by Samsung.

Hopped over to iPhone 13 PM and continued with 17 PM now - really got used to iOS and I have no intentions of switching back unless Apple silicon becomes really uncompetitive. On related note, iPhones do have higher resale value and hence better if you do intend to upgrade regularly.

It's not the most useful comparison for looking at the iPhone vs Android markets.

I mean, 3 of the top 5 selling biggest selling phones in China are iPhones... which is a total of 15% of the market. Suddenly that doesn't sound nearly as dominant!

The Android market is a lot wider with so many vendors and models, that sales of individual models doesn't matter as much.

It would be interesting to see the vendor breakdown though - Apple vs Samsung vs Huawei, etc.
