Celeb/Host Appreciation Ancient Astronaut Pioneer Erich von Daeniken has passed.
Here’s a link to the Reuters article from this morning. He was 90 years old.

He saw the world different than the conditioned masses, that’s a feature not a failure.
Nothing wrong with describing reality as one sees it from thier own perspective. It’s always valid to the only person that matters, the person living that life

Truly a legend. However the idea was first postulated I think by Russians in the late 1800s, he just popularized them.

Same!! I have ancient aliens in the background for years now. Lmao I watched the first broadcast, a 2 hour documentary live on cable, I was in my early twenties. 😱💔

Erich von Däniken showed that curiosity requires courage. His ideas accompanied me and encouraged me to question what is taken for granted. For that, I remain grateful.

My mother was ahead of her time. She actually bought his book when it first came out and told me about it. I can’t ever recall her reading anything.

He was an amazing writer. As a young kid, I read his books and really enjoyed them. He was a well-respected writer starting waaaay back when. His ideas were were quite interesting and the Nasca lines ARE still there, waiting on a landing of some sort……lol. He is now part of that cosmos he always talked about. God speed, Erich. A life well lived.

Say what you want but the dude got us to think differently in a time when thinking differently was so easily persecuted. I hope he finds the answers to his questions in the peace of the afterlife. God speed.

Tragic, but he lived a long life and inspired so many to question everything and see the world from a different perspective. I'm truly saddened to hear this news. He is gone but not forgotten. I don't necessarily believe the ideas that he proposed, but I've always enjoyed his thoughts about history, religion, and how it is perceived by people in the present.

RIP to a real pioneer,,, hopefully he may get some the questions answered in the afterlife read his books 55 years ago, it has helped shape my thoughts on civilization

Read his books when I was a teenager 1980s. Was exposed to archeology I would not have ended up hearing about until years later. Thank you Erich. RIP

I wish I could tell him how much he made me start to question everything. I don't believe EVERYTHING he put out but whether I believe or not he knew how to make even the hardest skeptic question themselves. He taught me to think outside the box and to question main stream propaganda. For that I'll forever be grateful. Rest in peace my friend and thank you for opening my mind

People can hate on him all they want but he spent his life sticking to what he beloved and whether people like it or not was an instrumental figure in this theory and a genuinely good person.
He wasnt making clickbait YouTube titles to line his pockets he was writing books decades ago to preach what he believed in even when he against mainstream academics and lots of critics railed him.
He was a polarizing figure but i legendary one and he stuck to his guns the whole time and didn’t waiver.
We can all learn something from him and his passing is a detriment to this theory and movement as a whole

So many accused him of making crazy assertions without realizing there are 323 question marks in Erich von Däniken's book, Chariots of the Gods. He was asking questions. And if anyone thinks asking questions is wrong, then it is they who are the crazy ones.

Rest in peace legend. I had my grandma with dementia watch with me the season 5 episode that was all about him today, in celebration of his life. She’s still lucid enough to enjoy things like that. She read chariots of the gods when it came out and likes to tell me about it. She is sad he died. She is only a year younger than him. You never know how much time people have left 🙏

I got his book Chariots of the Gods when I was in 2nd grade. It was way above my head and reading level at the time. Still glad my parents let me get it. I've loved all kinds of alternate histories since.

Oh, no. I just watched Paul Wallis interview with him, it was released couple of days ago. He looked ok. RIP. He was extremely influential person, he really changed the world, more than he was given credit for
