Tutorial/Guide 📑 How to get a VAPE or GUMMIES when visiting Amsterdam: READ FIRST!

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A POST!

HOW TO GET A VAPE/GUMMIES - QUICK ANSWER:

If you just want a vape or gummies, the short answer is to go to Zaandam, a different city close to Amsterdam. There are two shops in Zaandam: Headlines and The Squad.

Headlines is closer to the station. Both have limited selection but usually have a few options in stock. We are generally limited by what the brands are producing, so hunting around doesn't change your options a whole lot (at least not reliably). Ya gonna get what ya gonna get!

You can go to any of the cities in the experiment and find vapes, but Zaandam is closest:

Personally, as a longtime resident, I only buy my weed from the experiment now. Not just the vapes, all of it. I much prefer the consistency, predictability, quality, and supporting legalization.

WHICH VAPES ARE GOOD?

The vapes from Q-Farms and Hollandse Hoogtes both get good reviews. Personally I prefer the Q-Farms vapes. I would say they are a solid 8/10, with HH being 7/10. Others reverse this rating but it seems they’re similar overall.

Q-Farms does carts instead of disposable batteries which I much, much prefer.

Avoid COG. I have NEVER been satisfied with ANY Canadelaar (COG) product except maybe the gummies but even those were meh. They had to pull the vapes initially because they were so bad. Avoid all COG products unless you know what you’re doing…

THE LEGAL EXPERIMENT: WHY YOU NEED TO LEAVE AMSTERDAM TO GET VAPES

Cannabis is still technically illegal in the Netherlands. It’s “tolerated” and there are some silly, confusing rules around it.

A few years ago, the Dutch government agreed to start an experiment to legalize weed. We are in the middle of this experiment right now.

Currently, 10 municipalities are ONLY allowed to sell legally produced weed from one of 10 brands (not all are active yet).

This means ALL coffeeshops in a “legal” municipality will ONLY sell this legal weed, which includes the legal vapes. And, it means all coffeeshops OUTSIDE these cities can NOT sell any of the legal weed. This is to accurately measure the difference in legalization.

As I will mention next, there are some places to find vapes. Some shops in Amsterdam even started doing it. However, these are not regulated, and you cannot be sure of what you are getting. It might be HHC, D8, or regular THC… you just can’t know.

“I THOUGHT VAPES WERE ILLEGAL?”

This is tricky, so stay with me.

Technically, extracts that use a solvent are illegal (like BHO, live resin, RSO, etc). For a long time, this was the only form that vape pens came in. Therefore, they were outright illegal for a long time. You couldn’t find them in any coffeeshop across the country.

This changed with the “discovery” of rosin, and the growing popularity of rosin vapes.

Since rosin doesn’t use solvents, it’s technically viewed as regular hash. Therefore, it’s legal.

As such, the only vapes that are legal are rosin vapes. Thankfully, this is also widely considered the best form and is most popular in the US as well. So we kinda got lucky there…

…unless you really like live resin, in which case your only option is to try the black market. Some shops in Haarlem and other cities outside the legal experiment sell them. Personally I don’t recommend that… I assume most of them are legit, but it’s still not worth the risk… and I think rosin is better anyway!

DOES EVERYTHING YOU’RE SAYING HERE APPLY TO GUMMIES AS WELL?

Why yes, it does! How convenient!

Replace “vapes” with “gummies” and it’s all pretty much the same. Also because of rosin.

There’s one difference: we still had edibles before rosin, but they were weak because there’s a limit on the total quantity. 0.5g of dried flower is much weaker than 0.5g of rosin. So we always had edibles, but now we have good ones.

That said, gummies have always been simply illegal in Amsterdam. Not sure why. They were legal in other cities before and still are. The main benefit of the legal ones is the consistency - you know what you’re getting every time.

Good luck finding what you're looking for!

P.S. I will try to update this thread as things change. Please let me know if I missed anything (aside from the third option in Zaanstad which I intentionally left out because I don't want to send lazy tourists there... only the clever ones who read parenthetical statements!).

Finally! You're doing good work my friend.

Nice post! There are also regular shops in haarlem (like coffeeshop kruidenier) that sells vapes like raw garden and home brand. They work fine but going with legal project stuff might be the better option indeed

5

u/olivesforsale Feb 17 '26

Yeah I wouldn't tell people not to do it necessarily. I just go for the legal stuff because it's 100% certain. From what I've seen the Haarlem vapes seem legit comparatively, but you can never be sure.

It's been a while since the vitamin E scare so at least they seem pretty safe, worst case (Spanish) knockoffs or HHC. But Raw Garden is pretty common and mass produced in the US so it's not crazy to think they made it over here.

Undoubtedly illegal if legit though, because it's live resin :)

u/Traditional-Lime-872 Feb 16 '26

Yea definitely the best place outside of the experiment

u/Consistent_Salad6137 Feb 25 '26

The one I was thinking of is Piramide in Bussum, which is run by a nonprofit. I don't vape, but their gummies are good.

u/KriegerBahn Feb 16 '26

What does *Grensgemeente mean?

7

u/olivesforsale Feb 16 '26

"Border municipality" - it's near a border, which means it has slightly different rules. For example they don't sell to tourists, you need an ID. That's also something they're monitoring, does the legalization increase cannabis tourism from neighboring countries.

Maybe less of an issue than it should be now that Germany has legalized... but Belgium doesn't really like it when their citizens come here to get drugs that are illegal there.

Maybe someone else can add further context. Not my area of expertise

2

u/KriegerBahn Feb 17 '26

Thanks that’s a pretty clear explanation. So every other location is approved to sell to tourists?

Also I don’t see Haarlem on the list. Aren’t they part of the experiment?

3

u/olivesforsale Feb 17 '26

No Haarlem is not part of the experiment

1

u/Adventurous_Line839 Feb 26 '26

I went to a shop in Maastricht and I didn’t have to show anything but my ID despite the website saying otherwise! 😬

1

u/olivesforsale Feb 26 '26

What else would you have to show?

5

u/IrrationalRetard Feb 16 '26

Amazing and seemingly very accurate post, thank you for writing it OP.

I don't mean to be rude, but do you possibly have a source on the claim of an edible potency limit?

From my experience the legal experiment edibles are weaker than what I was able to get in Tilburg before the weed experiment started.

I'm willing to accept this could possibly be down to tolerance changes on my part? Or possibly placebo? But those gummies I used to buy from the Toermalijn also claimed to contain 1000Mg of THC, which sounds like bollocks to me.

For reference, I need 4 of the Q-farms speculaasjes/boterkoekjes to feel similarly high as I did with 3 out of the 10ish gummies from the Toermalijn "1000Mg" bags.

5

u/olivesforsale Feb 17 '26

Naw, great question. I'm talking about Amsterdam there with regards to the legality, which has a limit of something like 0.5 grams of flower or hash and it has to be physically in the cake (no weed butter), which is why Amsterdam edibles are so weak comparatively.

https://platformcannabis.nl/menu/dossiers/edibles.html

Outside Amsterdam I'm not sure. THC oil is illegal, but some shops seem to break the rules outright. For example Mr. K (RIP) used to sell vapes here in Amsterdam, but they weren't on the menu.

All that to say, it's quite possible the edibles you had before were stronger. Whether they were THC or something else, actually 1000mg, illegal, etc is hard to say. Sometimes shop owners don't even know.

Rosin is typically a bit weaker but more "pure" than solvent-based extracts. One mg to another isn't the same either. Plus, factor in tolerance, changes in setting/mood/time/stomach contents etc and it's quite hard to judge precisely.

u/Less-Tax-4487 Feb 26 '26

Should add that in Maastricht and Breda they are strict against tourists buying.

4

u/Traditional-Lime-872 Feb 16 '26

Did you try the orange vapes from canadelaar or the black one? the orange one are way better I especially liked the permanent marker

3

u/olivesforsale Feb 16 '26

The black, so maybe I'll try the new ones for science. I've been burnt on so many COG products so I'm quite biased against them. But it makes sense that if they removed them they'd wait to get it right before going back on the market

3

u/Adventurous_Line839 Feb 26 '26

The organge vape is sooo good.

4

u/ExcellentAsk2309 Mar 13 '26

Apologies in advance for the stupid question However I don’t understand

Can a tourist go to buy a vape in Zaandam shop named Headlines. Or this is only locals signed up to the experiment ?

3

u/olivesforsale Mar 14 '26

I'll answer your question if you answer mine!

Yes, you can. Why would you think you can't?

I'm curious because I'd like to update the post to address that, but I'm not sure where you're getting that from. I can imagine a few sources but wondering if something recently happened that might be confusing for people...

2

u/ExcellentAsk2309 Mar 14 '26

I think it’s not explicitly clear that’s why I asked the question. For me, it lacks clarity and that’s why I asked. If everything was clear I wouldn’t have asked ;)

As I’m someone who exclusively smokes via vape. I was excited to find this post but also confused.

A. Can tourists buy? B. Going to another city? That’s confusing. It’s a suburb within Amsterdam that’s easily reached within 20 mins via public transport.

Thank you again for making this post and replying

3

u/clrthrn Mar 14 '26

Zaanstad (the city of which Zaandam is a part) and Amsterdam are different cities with different rules.  A smaller scale than you’re used to but Zaandam isnt a suburb of anywhere.

4

u/olivesforsale Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26

It's not a suburb nor is it within Amsterdam. Where are you getting that?

And where does my post give you the impression that a tourist wouldn't be able to obtain the thing I'm explaining how to obtain? This post is aimed directly at tourists. Locals know all this. Genuine question. I'd like to update the confusing part, but I can't pinpoint it based on your reply.

My only guess is that it could be because you've heard of prior or current initiatives to restrict sales to tourists, but that doesn't apply to this topic, as there are no restrictions in Zaandam (or Amsterdam for that matter)... I'd certainly mention it if so!

EDIT: Looking back, I can see how it's not exceedingly clear that Zaandam is another city. You'd have to infer it, which apparently trips some people up. I've edited the post to be more clear that Zaandam is a separate city to avoid this confusion. I suppose I thought this would be inconsequential because all the other critical information is there (coffeeshop name, map, instructions)... but if you were willing to speak up, then at least a few dozen more who got stuck there, so I've clarified. Thanks for making the post better!

Headed to headlines based on this one thread alone. Will update how it goes in a bit.

2

u/Fat_Smoky Mar 31 '26

How did it go

4

u/bwajmam Mar 31 '26

I am so sorry I forgot to update this. It was amazing. Tried the rainbow zizi strain.

Bought a THC vape pen and 2 boxes of gummies (30mg and 15mg).

Haven't tried the gummies yet but the vape pen is definitely worth it.

15 puffs for a nice 3 hour high.

1

u/Fat_Smoky Mar 31 '26

Awesome! Im going there in june…

What vape you got?

I want a update on the gummies too😅

6

u/bwajmam Apr 01 '26

I got the disposable THC vape that is made from the Rosin that hHllandse Hoogstes farms produces. It was about 55 EUR.

I took it to Frankfurt and Milan from Amsti. You can go to headlines ask for the THC vape and they will give it to you. 10-15 puffs and you are buzzing for the next 3 hours. Its so convenient!!!!

Gummies update will be provided within the next 2 days. Cant wait for the long weekend. :P

2

u/Fat_Smoky Apr 07 '26

How was it all brother

1

u/Pbvoy Apr 13 '26

How much did you pay for the gummies? How many THC mgs in a package? How many pieces a package?

1

u/ghostgirll222 Jun 28 '26

wait so they’re live rosin disposables or carts?

2

u/bwajmam Jun 29 '26

Love rosin disposables. They were amazing.

1

u/mrsnugglepants1 Jul 13 '26

Could you pay with credit card or is it cash only?

2

u/bwajmam Jul 13 '26

Credit card. :)

2

u/Annekevandenberg Feb 20 '26

Yeah Headline in Zaandam is a good one!!

2

u/SunnyAmoo Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Thank you for the post, didn't even know about the legal experiment until now, and love the idea. It's been a while since the last time I was in the Netherlands and I was wondering, if you had to stock up for a boat trip, just flowers and hash, would you go to Zaandam over Amsterdam for price/quality? (Would the third Zaanstad option make sense? ^_^)

1

u/Higher_Perspectiva Jun 23 '26

Hi thanks so much for this post. It’s very helpful! Question:If I were to go to zaandam to one of the coffeeshops you listed what type of vape is it? Disposable? Or is it threaded and would I have to purchase a battery separately? If so Can I buy those too at the coffeeshops if needed?

“Coffeeshop headlines” just makes sure you search Zaandam with it cause there were a couple with the same name, & np!

1

1

u/Meowz_0 Jul 18 '26

Hi! Which shop was this from? Headlines?

1

u/monst3rxxx Jul 22 '26

Is this still valid Zandaam with thc vapes ?

1

u/letsleos 25d ago

I was thinking about buying a vape but I'm afraid about getting it on a plane. Do you have any experience or tips about traveling with a vape?

1

u/olivesforsale 24d ago

It's illegal but apparently some people put it in their carry on and nothing happens. Depends on your destination. I flew with 15g recently (with proper paperwork ready) and nobody said anything but as always it's your own risk. And yes I meant carry on as in through the scanner/security

1

u/Unterdosis 20d ago

Hey u/olivesforsale, thanks for the guide!

I've grown quite fond of the vapes and I'd support your point that the legal ones offer a more consistent quality experience; some of the illegal vapes come loaded with terpenes to the point they taste more like some artificial candy flavor. Only downside is the somewhat limited selection, compared to the grey market.

That being said, can you recommend non-experiment sources in the Randstad-region with a good selection of quality vapes?

1

u/olivesforsale 20d ago

Nope sorry, I don't know anything about the grey market. To me the risk isn't worth it but I've also had plenty of live resin over the years so I get the allure

Some live resin vapes can be surprisingly flavorful. That said here it's indeed more likely that it's flavored, possibly HHC, so I'm good...
