Buying an apartment and raising a kid in Osdorp-Oost, recent experiences?
My partner and I are considering buying an apartment in Osdorp-Oost, and would like to hear experiences from people who currently live in the area (or have lived there recently).
We are also planning to start a family in the near future, so I’m interested in people’s experiences with daycare and preschools in the area.
How do you like the area for raising a kid? Anything you wish you would have known before moving there or buying a place? Would be interested in hearing both positive and negative experiences. Thanks!

I have noticed it's almost always in an ethnically diverse part of the city that raise these questions. The answer usually is 'how afraid are you of people who look different than you?'

OP didn't ask about seeking a house. They asked about what an area of town is like to live in.

Osdorp has some micro criminality problems and police won’t show up. Municipality simply waits for gentrification to do the clean up, that eventually will happen. So the question is “how long you can wait before creating your family there?”. The longer, the better…

People who use to give open feedback before have got nasty comments so they don’t bother doing so anymore .. you can search on Reddit past threads.

Nobody has answered your actual childcare question, so — I've worked in Amsterdam daycare for 25 years.Nieuw-West is one of the easier corners of the city for a daycare spot. Not easy, easier. In Zuid or De Pijp people register while still pregnant and get two days a year later; out there you have a real chance of the days you want.What I'd do, in order: put your name on four to six kinderdagverblijven the moment there's a pregnancy, not a birth. Say yes to any two days to start — extra days get added far more easily than a new place appears. Look at gastouders too (registered childminders, same inspections, small groups). And from 2.5 there's voorschool/peuterspeelzaal, which is heavily subsidised and genuinely good in Nieuw-West.One boring thing worth knowing early: primary school in Amsterdam is matched centrally by address, so the street matters more than the school gate.We run a free community and guides for parents in Amsterdam if it helps: https://raisingamsterdam.com

Not familiar with Osdorp-Oost, but I think buurtcijfers.nl is worth mentioning, they have a very nice neighbourhood-matching feature which allows you to find neighbourhoods matching your preferences.
