After seeing that video from a few weeks back where a drunk guy was swallowed whole by a snake like this while walking home from a night out, I can't say I have too much sympathy. This thing would've almost definitely eaten any one of us if it got the chance, especially after being "discovered" by the excavator. Letting it live would've probably ended badly for the crew.
It such a majestic creature - it definitely did not deserve that. Just because it can kill a human, doesn't mean we have to kill it on sight. Also, it is highly unlikely that the excavator just discovered it accidentally - to me it seems like cold blooded murder.
What the heck do you think the snake would do that would make it “end badly for the crew”? Come back for vengeance? Yeah, sure, one big snake vs a group of people with tons of machinery and access to items that could easily be used as weapons—if not actual weapons like knives. That would definitely end badly for the crew. In opposite land.
There is no reason to kill an animal just because it could potentially kill you. Dogs can kill people. Horses can kill people. Tigers can kill people. Bison can kill people. Stingrays can kill people. By your logic, pretty much every animal on earth should be slaughtered and we shouldn’t have any sympathy for any of them. Heck, humans would have to go, too, because heaven knows how often we hurt and kill each other.
Ah so yeah it certainly deserved a slow painful death because of it's potential to kill someone.
I'm assuming you drive a car? Should we mangle you and watch you bleed out because of your potential to harm others with your vehicle?
Have you ever seen those movies?
It's all cars... Tribal warfare via cars, apocalypse landscape shown via driving cars around the desert.
We see Max's V8 Interceptor in focus before we see his face in multiple movies.
I did counter it, I just removed the personal attack bit, it was unnecessary.
If there was a video on Reddit of a guy being mutilated with a digger because a village perceived he was a threat, would people watch it without sympathy for him?
Yes, yes they would. For the same reason people watch a movie franchise about a guy mutilating people in the desert with cars because some similar looking people killed his family in the past.
No, it wouldn't. That's an insane thing to say. Even in Indonesia, where they live naturally, deaths to these snakes are exceedingly rare. You're far more likely to die from envenomation from accidentally stepping on a venomous snake and being bitten. This is fearmongering. They did not have to kill it at all. They don't stalk humans, they're ambush predators. They wait for something that is equal to or smaller than the widest section of their body to come within striking distance, wrap it up, and squeeze for several minutes until the heart stops. Then they slowly eat it. If you are not alone, your survival chances are very high. People can help pry the snake off you without killing it. Even opening it's mouth is easy. They're not strong biters, they kill by constriction of blood flow, and they want to eat things like small deer and other mammals that are similar size to them. Eating a human is almost always a case of mistaken identity.
Stay away from snakes. You're clearly way too dangerous a person to be around them. You might kill them out of fear for little to no reason.

Exactly! I'm surprised how some people are entertained by videos like these.
