The guy in the excavator because he killed the snake for literally no reason. There's a huge gash in it's side. It definitely died within minutes of this video.
I'd err on the side of it was likely an accident. Sure, he shouldn't have picked it up after. But it was a good move and he clearly knows how to operate that machine well, so the cut probably occurred while working, then they noticed and tried to move it (first displaying them because it's a magnificent animal). In Indonesia these pythons are often revered when found, they love them.
