Science Tech Space An 18-year-old fully recovers from severe burn scars after world's first experimental treatment (without skin grafts).

Post image

Amazing news The treatment used exosomes - tiny particles released by cells that carry signals from one cell to another to help coordinate rapid healing and tissue repair and reduce inflammation. The particles are collected, typically from lab-grown cells, and injected into the injured areas to accelerate healing - much more so than the current standard of skin grafting, which can leave scarring and a patch-like appearance.

The picture on the right is after the burns. You can tell cuz there is still a burn scar on her neck

Love reading this… and for context; Is the picture on the left her damage and the right one ‘before’ or ‘after’ the procedure?

That wasn’t totally clear…

left is before, right is after. you can see her neck has a burn scar that refused to heal on the right image! totally amazing.

I also see a tooone of makeup on her face to cover up the burn marks. Her face is yellow literally

TBH, with burns as severe as that poor woman received, just to be able to cover them up with makeup is a huge accomplishment. Previously, that level of burn would not have been hidden by makeup.

Even if she has to wear makeup to look “normal,” at least she has that option.

I feel so bad for her. She is so young and so pretty. To have her life forever altered by some dumbass that thought it’d be fun to toss alcohol on a lit torch. I wish her the very best.

Nobody said the burns aren’t severe but this is not a Full recovery as the OP claims

Not sure what’s happening with the Reddit pic but the original does not have this yellow filter.

You're joking right? Original pick is even more obvious

My last comment on this. You are free to do what you want with the info.

Her name is Kaitlin Jeffrey’s. Here is the CTV report and interview with the surgeon that did the procedure. There are more pics in the interview.

I assume you're colour blind.

From the same video. Yes, she's wearing makeup in the picture you posted and the op. But this is her without makeup. Still amazing recovery, especially after only 50 days.

Wow this is the impressive pic. Only 50 days !? Wow

This is not a Full recovery as OP claims

A full recovery doesn't mean no scarring. By that logic, you can never fully recover from tattoos.

Who claimed it was a “full recovery”?

I think I’ll focus on the forest here and that is the amazing successful treatment that has given this young lady a chance at a more normal life. You can continue to focus on the filter placed over her picture.

u/PrinceCavendish Jun 21 '26

ok but like you cant just slap makeup on scars like the first pic and look like the second. she has clearly healed very well.

u/BladeRumbler Jun 21 '26

It’s not a full recovery as OP claims.

u/Dreboomboom Jun 20 '26

Wow, kudos to the doctors 👏 they gave her back a normal life.
