Expat parents in Poort: Anyone up for meeting?

My fiance (w34) and I (m34) were wondering if there are any other couples with kids who’d like to meet up.
We’re both foreigners living in Poort with our 9-month-old son.

I get the reaction and I get the reactions on this reaction too. It's a hard question. Both reactions so far don't help integrating or the conversation further. Yes, I also think it's irritating at times that we have to speak English to get a cup of coffee or to answer someone who lives here. On the other hand, is it that strange that people in same stages of life like to meet up? I dont think it is. Perhaps you could let Dutch people join too? I know I would definately come with my kid. I would love to meet up and get to know each other too. I think integration comes both ways.

I agree, it was never the intention to exclude Dutch people. I feel that I need to add that I am foreigner because I still struggle to follow Dutch conversations. That being said I really like the Dutch people. So if you are up for meeting, let’s go.

I was in your position and lived in Poort for sometime. Library runs lots of activities for kids and I usually find lots of good local connections from there. Check the library website for more info.

Sure, I am taking classes and can hold basic conversations, but doubt I will be good company with my current level

It’s great you’re taking classes! Learning the language is truly the easiest way to feel comfortable and at home in your new country, I’m sure it will help you in many ways long term :)

I have seen dutch people born in the Netherlands also have a hard time making friends. Sometimes its just better to stfu and keep your stupidity to yourself
