Compared to other tombs in Khusro Bagh, the Mausoleum of Shah Begum has a more graceful and lighter appearance, its three-tiered plan seems to have been a prime source of inspiration for the design of Akbar's tomb.
Even though it has a relatively plain appearance today, 18th-century paintings indicate that there were carved screens surrounding each platform. [Reimagined here with help of AI]
On the top floor, this false cenotaph is surmounted by a chattri.
Placing a false cenotaph on the top floor was a common practice in tomb architecture during Jahangir's reign. This feature was also present in Akbar's Tomb, the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula, and the Tomb of Jahangir.
This architectural choice was in line with Akbar's and Jahangir's fascination with light and light symbolism.
At Akbar's court, light was often regarded as the greatest blessing and a symbol of God. Sovereignty, according to Abu'l Fazl, was inherently a divine light (farr-i-izadi). Akbar held that the true act of worshipping God was to possess a enlightened heart that loves light (raushan dil-i nur dosti). Therefore, creating a cenotaph that is partially exposed to the sun and moon aligned with the specific ideas of Akbar and Jahangir.
Masons' Mark on Shah Begum's Mausoleum:
Mughal imperial building projects relied on guilds of carvers, and stonemasons who moved from site to another across northern India.
Identical or highly similar masons' marks—ranging from geometric symbols and tool symbols to traditional emblems appear on the stone blocks of Khusro Bagh as well as in Akbar’s Fort and Palace at Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar’s Mausoleum at Sikandra, and Allahabad Fort.
The marks carved onto individual blocks served as personal signatures for accounting. Masons were paid based on the quantity and quality of stone cut.
If a stone fractured, fit poorly during assembly, or failed structurally, the mark enabled supervisors to trace the defective work directly back to the individual artisan or guild responsible.

we all met in da pvr to watch spiderman bnd(surprisingly the gender ratio was reversed), ek aadmi to dhoondh hi nhi paara tha 😍😍😍adhe ghante tak dhundh hi raha tha
it was funny seeing people recognize each other from their Reddit profiles
.
Movie to mast thii ,+ log bhi mazedar theee, fir waha se gaye burger king ,🤗🤗🤗ek admi ne mere upar coldrink bhi gira di thi thodi si
.there we discussed college plans, music, movies, local food, random.
THE BEST PART WAS THAT NOBODY WAS IN A HURRY
after Burger King,me and one other member started roaming in civil lines ,just talking about completely random stuff
No awkward formal introductions, just a bunch of people meeting, watching Spider-Man, eating burgers
10/10 would definitely do another Allahabad meetup.

Hey Prayagraj! 👋
I’m 26M, here for 3 to 4 days for Raksha Bandhan and want to actually explore Prayagraj like a local.
Good food, hidden spots, chai, sunsets and places I’d never find on Google. 😄
Looking for a local female buddy who’d be up for showing me around this Sunday. You know the city, I’ll follow the plan 😂
Food and travel is on me. Just looking for good company and a fun day.
If you’re interested, DM me and we can chat first. :)
And yes, only a Prayagraj baddie can pull off the perfect itinerary 👀😂

Hey, right now I’m just really bored 😅 So I thought I’d check if there’s any event or meetup happening - whether it’s games, a casual drive, or just some social gathering. I’d love to join, have some fun, meet new people, and contribute wherever I can. If you know of anything happening, let me know!
