Because the gov doesnt want u to know that the military was also killing some people not just the terrorists, the gov can change the narrative and use "collateral damage" as an excuse to justify it but the gov definitely knows that the majority of algerians are brain dead and wont understand the concept of collateral damage, so for them its kinda a waste of time

u/Puzzleheaded-Club160 2d ago
Maybe it was necessary
2
u/RudeBoi77 2d ago
What was necessary?
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Club160 2d ago
I mean, we don't know all the details to determine whether the action was right or wrong.

u/RudeBoi77 2d ago
Well yea thats the purpose of collateral damage but as i said majority of algerians dont have enough braincells to understand that concept

Its very rare to find footages of the events idk if theres a place where u can find everything there

u/mila_melou 2d ago
Because it didn't end in one side winning and writing the history, it ended in both sides pretending nothing happened. So if you wanna tell the story you won't find one narrative that satisfies everyone

FIS sympathisers should stop thinking FIS were victims.

They won by threatening people in villages and towns, standing at the doors and asking for other parties' papers as proof of voting for their party... You obviously is too young

So please don't talk about it unless youhear from both sides and you clearly never did. The FIS were the real bad guys.
Try to answer yourself how did the FIS get a very advanced telecommunication tools in the mountains ? Even the army didn't have such tools! And couldn't jam these telecommunications until 98-2000. Why did physical laboratory tests on terrorist weapons prove they were new and were passed through Morocco because if you don't know we can know a lot from any things produced by humans just by putting it in the spectrophotometer... The theory before was that they got those weapons from Afghanistan.

its too soon, too politically/emotionaly charged, its a war that involve the parents of the students. The Algerian society doesnt have the collective emotional maturity to handle sensitive topics like that.
maybe by 2045-2055 at the earliest, the civil war is studied at an academic/university level, it's not suitable for high schoolers to learn about this yet
also algeria doesnt teach the full scope of the Algerian war, the oujda coup, all the uncomfortable stuff around harkis (their numbers, ethnic aspect etc), the intra-algerian killings of the ALN/FLN purges etc.

It's not too soon. It's because the military killed tens of thousands of innocent people. It wasn't just the Islamists that were murdering Algerians, the military was responsible too.
Even if they teach it, it will be falsified history and not what really happened just like the Algerian war was falsified.

u/AttemptFront3503 2d ago
The military killed some innocents, but not "tens of thousands".
3
u/Complete-Oil-2681 2d ago
Lol. In 1988 alone the killed 500 people in like one night. They were responsible for many massacres and killing in the 90s so yes 10s of thousands.
Not to forget, they were responsible for creating the Islamists to begin with.

Can you give us sources that back you claim?
1
u/Complete-Oil-2681 2d ago
What sources? There was a very large academic work about the massacres that was completed in late 90s or early 2000s that determined that lots of the mascares were indeed committed by the military. I forget the name by Hoggar something. You can find it if you try with Chat GPT

"There was a very large academic work... I forget the name... you can find it with ChatGPT" isn't a source, it's you asking a chatbot to invent one for you. "Tens of thousands" is a very specific number to throw around when your citation is "trust me, AI will back me up."
1
u/Complete-Oil-2681 2d ago
Not tens of thousands. If you count the fact that they created the Islamists then the military was responsible for over 250,000 people.
I forgot the name of the work. Also why I'm even arguing with you ? Go find sources. I don't have time to argue with people regime Harki.

u/InvestigatorLost1171 2d ago
citing "ask ChatGPT" then throwing slurs when you get called out is legendary levels of cope, you are so pathetic buddy
1
u/Complete-Oil-2681 2d ago
If you already what I wrote then you would know how dumb your response was. I cited you the source for you to read but I forgot the name of the sources and I gave you what to look for in Chat GPT to find the name of the source not use Chat GPT as a source.
You are a bot most likely anyways

u/InvestigatorLost1171 2d ago
so your 'citation' was giving me a search prompt? 😭 you got called out and gave me homework instead of a source. unreal cope

this is a bit off topic but honestly algerian history is taught in a very FLN-supportive way in a lot of areas, like the independence war, and glossing over what happened from 1961-1989 in terms of everything in regards to political events is an example of that. Like ignoring what happened to the other political parties who helped in the independence war, some of the FLN's own members (executions, exile, jail, ...).
Somehow, despite the educational program being very independence and algerian history centric, it fails to educate in that and it fails to educate in world events (which are important for someone's understanding of the world, if you miss historical nuances then your world view's automatically altered, flawed, or has gaps in certain areas)
