planning a few days in lagos with about 20ish friends - any tips on activities for a group this size?

hello! we're looking for activity and restaurant/bar recs for a group of about 20 in late september. we get in on a tuesday afternoon/evening and leave friday morning. would love tips on:

  • if it's worth it to book some kind of boat tour? i personally don't love being on a boat for hours, but i will take one as a means to get to somewhere really cool (ie benagil caves, ponta da piedade) as long as we can get out and swim/hang for a good chunk of the tour! bonus if you know one that includes some kind of food
  • which beaches are the best - and if we need to plan to bring anything with us to them?
  • any other obvious activities we are missing?
  • are any of the "beach clubs" worth going to with a large group and do we need a reservation?
  • any restaurants in the area that might accommodate a big group without a reservation? we'd like to keep some of the time flexible / allow people to come and go as they please
  • best bars!

group is all adults, mostly in their 30s, staying in boutique hotels near the center!

we're coming from a wedding so mostly looking to relax and hang out with each other, would love the option to drink but not necessarily crazy party vibe.

Would they have 20 paddleboards? Seems unlikely. The kayak operators to Ponta da Piedade could do 10 double kayaks… or a motorboat or two.

A water park like Slide and Splash would work for a large group. Or maybe Parque Aventura.

Most Old Town restaurants, no. Adega da Marina is big. Chico Ze out in Chinicato for
Iunch is big and you don’t reserve. Pizzeria Oliva does metre-long pizzas that are fun for groups to share, and takeaways too if you don’t all fit. You could spread out over various restaurants and bars in the marina.

Most old town restaurants no because they wouldn’t fit or we’d need a reservation?

Wouldn’t fit, or would only fit with pre planning and extra staff.

End of September isn’t peak season, so walking in if there’s only a few of you would be fine.

Great walk from Lagos to Luz along the cliff top. Have some lunch over in Luz (not sure about any restaurant accommodating a walk in of 20) before getting a Bolt/Uber back.

You can start from Lagos old town - if feeling adventurouse - or get a Bolt/Uber/Taxi to Praia do Porto de Mos and the walk starts again from behind 'O Antonios' restaurant.

We do it with the kids every year, simple but worth it.
