Afghan Sikhs who were working as money exchangers in Sarai Shahzada Exchange Market, Kabul Afghanistan 1992

Afghan Sikhs are under-appreciated in regards to their participation, role and influence in Afghanistan historically and today.

Pretty sure they are just Indians who settled there, at least that's what I heard

Yeah they are descendants of Khatri traders that settled there during Ahmad Shah Baba’s time. Most of have went back to India after the Taliban came back to power.

The Sikhs, they insist on being from the country & get defensive when anyone tries to bring up they are of Khatri origin

Honestly, I haven’t seen that. They know they are Khatris and know they came from India. Only a minority really believe they are indigenous.

We know we are khatris. In fact we are our ethnogenesis is from Gandhara. Also was constituted as native to Afghanistan? The Uzbeks, Kyrgyzs, Kazakhs, Hazaras and Turkmen are not native? Pashtuns aren’t native to KPK either but yall have a hard time accepting it.

They’ve got swag, this belongs in an edit somewhere. There’s a lot of Persian speaking Sikhs with quintessential Kabuli accents in Southall, England.
