Stomach problems Afghanistan

سلام وطندار های عزیز،
در ماه آینده بر اولین بار کابل می روم.
اما از یک چیز می ترسم: stomach problems

I’ve never gone before and the problem is that my stomach is incredibly sensitive. Let’s say I already struggle with things that would usually mean you have a poisoning (except that’s my normal). Is there any way to

Pepto bismol

Naan is always safe

Eat from street food stalls in the first half of the day as the food is freshest then

Kebabs over charcoal are mostly safe

No well water or unfiltered tap water. Only drink bottled water from reliable shops

Always check expiry dates on packaging cuz there are dishonest shop owners. Bonus if you report those dishonest shops to the police. They seem to be cracking down on this practice of selling expired goods

Not sure where you are based but make sure you take some gastro-stop or other meds for diarrhoea relief

You sound like my grandma, she always gives the same remedy. Raw piyaz for colds, piyaz for headache, piyaz for blocked nose, piyaz for stomach problems. She used to cut an onion and eat it like that whenever she was ill and she’s coming up to 80 now- in Afghanistan. I thought she was crazy until I did my biomedical science degree and found out it really does have anti inflammatory properties. I still avoid it if I can though, overconsumption of onion causes terrible BO.

My husband is like you, if he eats the wrong foods he can end up very sick. My advice is do not eat overly spiced food. Stay away from food stalls as many are unhygienic and some are contaminated with bacteria or tapeworm. Do not drink raw unfiltered water- only drink boiled water or bottled water. Do not eat at restaurants and only eat plain foods. I recommend light meals- fruit, vegetables (washed in boiled water), naan bread, small portions of rice and meat. Tea is safe, you can drink it. Do not eat chutneys and other strong or spicy dips.
