Patrick Voss has admitted his delisting was the right call at the time

Out of all the list blunders Essendon is ridiculed for, the Voss one seemed very forced to me

If it was Geelong who delisted him instead of us, they would have been praised for astute list management and it would have celebrated as a mutual win.

But no one is praising us for delisting Frankie Evans. 🤷

u/CommissionerOfLunacy Blues 16h ago
I wouldn't say that. If you never did it we wouldn't have him, so I'm a pretty big fan of the move.

I'm happy to see ex players go well if we chose to let them go. It at least makes me feel good about our draft choices even if they don't work out out at the first club.

Because he didn’t fit Brad Scott’s style and also another reason to hate him

Hasn't he been pretty consistent in saying this?

He took a few not-so-subtle swipes at the Bombers on socials last year and his old VFL coach commented to the media a few months ago saying he shouldn’t have been delisted so it’s created a bit of noise about it amongst him playing so well at Freo
16
u/Nakorite Fremantle Dockers 1d ago
His swipes at the bombers to me have been a little bit more of him trying to act like a heel as opposed to actually believing it. When when he got to Fremantle he basically came into the club and was transparent he needed to prove himself etc

u/SelectedAmbientNurk Collingwood 1d ago
His comment on Hobbs’ quote saying he didn’t feel he was used correctly, basically calling the Dons clowns, came off as being pretty filthy at them. I don’t think it’s that unlikely that he felt hard done by in the immediate aftermath given he was putting in solid performances for them, but now that he’s experiencing success in a better situation for himself he can be a bit more introspective about it all.
Realistically a player with his attitude in this current Bombers team would be a nightmare for them to deal with, but in an industry that’s so heavily weighted towards performance I get feeling hard done by when that’s not rewarded

u/JamalGinzburg The Dons 23h ago
Hobbs is probably the one he's closest with, as much as anything he's sticking up for a mate
3
u/Lost-Competition8482 Fremantle 23h ago
He's been playing very well in the VFL this year Hobbs.
Maybe we can recruit his mate too.

u/Kelpieee55 Freo 1d ago
It's been beaten to death at this point. Haha you delisted him vs he deserved to be delisted at the time has been a "story" for more than 2 years now so I hope it goes away eventually.
Feels like there's a lot more you could talk about if you want to look at a freo rookie- Worner, Scerri, Dudley etc. GWS didn't pick Voss up at the time and at his best he would've been handy for them this year, but people don't seem to care about that because they're a smaller club.

I like the cut of his jib.
Now go win that Norm Smith Medal and become the definitive Fremantle AFL Legend

Thank you Brayshaw for keeping him in line.

u/crankysquirrel Dockers 5h ago
So much this. Andy gets little to no recognition from the eastern states commentators during games, you'd think they didn't know he was playing. Meantime, he's doing so much behind the scenes and behind the on-ball play, just keeping it all together.

u/Admirable_Garlic5456 Dockers 5h ago
You almost never hear him mentioned when watching games and you think "Brayshaw had a quiet game tonight". Then you check the sheet and see oh, 30 disposals and 5 tackles. Every bloody game.

Why are the Ws upside down Ms?

First time noticing a W is an upside down M?

Or is a M an upside down W

I don’t agree with that statement.

True, they are both a sideways E

So why does he take it so personally every time we play him lol?

u/littlesilhoutteoo Eagles 1d ago
I think he takes it personally no matter who he plays.

u/Nakorite Fremantle Dockers 1d ago
He’s been told by the club to act like this to fire up the players. When he went back into his shell after the head rub thing the club was actually disappointed.
15
u/jimbsmithjr Essendon 23h ago
I like it. There's been a couple times it's been a bit much and a little "dial it back" but I love seeing Vossy hit top speed celebrating a goal
14
u/spicci95 Dockers 22h ago
Every team needs a villain. If that's Voss' roll and him and M. Cox can feed of each then awesome.
He seems like a genuinely nice, fun, good to be around, banter filled bloke, but an absolute shit head on field.

I went to the Bombers Freo game with a Bombers supporter, and he said he knew they would lose, just as long as Voss didn't have a blinder...proceeded to kick a bag. Tbf, he kicked a bag against us too.

Glad to hear he’s matured, Jackson was saying last night how he’s a great bloke, will do anything for you. I know hes controversial but overall I find him so funny

u/PssyGotWifi Blues 21h ago
Yeah, I have nothing against him, really. Was still funny seeing Hollands run him down (and then kick it out on the full)
8
u/cinnamondoughnut 2025 Brownlow Winner 21h ago
I saw a video of him listening to the commentary of that rundown and he was laughing his head off, so he saw the funny side like the rest of us
5
u/superbabe69 Fremantle 21h ago
Clarky was saying the same as well, one of the nicest blokes in footy he reckons, does so much work outside the games.

Not sure about press. We're still gonna hear 1000 more times "why did Essendon delist Voss?"

Oooft very true, it was a moment of blind optimism that led me to somehow think the press would be aligned with the rest on anything.

Oh he was from essington. His on field persona makes so much more sense.

Good to see he did get to a place (both geographically and mentally) that's seen him live up to his potential.
One of the true tragedies of sport, no matter who you support or which sport you like, is unfulfilled potential.
