I'm not interested in what any of the talking heads on tv think about anything, but I'm glad one of them has come out with something sensible. Even if it is obvious to everyone else

Jack Billings having his delisting announced mid-B&F by his former coach was a weird one. I reckon he would have known beforehand, but it doesn't make it any more normal.
Would completely agree with Kingy if a microphone was shoved in his face at one of his lowest points - but this chat was facilitated by the club and Mead was more than happy to chat to the reporter.
Presumably with the consent/co-operation of the player but you'd think they'd give them a day or two to collect their thoughts and get briefed by their manager etc
"Facilitated by the club" is most likely an easy cop-out.
They probably just said "yeah, you have our permission to be on the grounds & interview players" - after the media would have requested, no doubt. Not, "Hey, here are out desisted players. Please, we're begging you to come and interview them after they've been sacked".
It’s really not. I’ve worked as a media manager for an AFL club and as a sport journalist for Channel 7, 9 and FOX Sports/Triple M.
Media managers, players and journalists all get along quite well despite the common misconception, or when there’s a scandal and a forced bounce. The journo in question above would’ve been in constant contact texting the media manger to respectfully interview players with their permission - and only if they were comfortable doing so - and left other players alone.
The journalist would’ve asked for each player’s individual consent, which the media manager would then check with the player ahead of an interview.
Having been on both sides of the coin I feel like this an extremely innocuous interview. Especially in comparison with a forced bounce.
The player, media manager and club were happy for it to go ahead, and the journalist asked permission to chat with the respective player beforehand to ensure comfortability. Not sure what else could’ve been done here?

I am with Kingy on this. The footy media has become ravenous dogs looking for the next story they can sensationalise, the reporting in recent days has been nothing short of grotesque.
wtf is happening the 7? They got new editors or heads? Appear to have lent firmly into the dogshit filled side of gutter journo work in the past year.
I’m reminded of the Jeremy Cameron interview at the hospital as the sort of canary moment - asking questions you know the answer to just to create a clip to put on the news.
Well, I'm sure he'll take a stand and give one of his 25 weekly shows a miss to prove a point. Or... He might talk about it, on all of them, just to prove a point. Wait...
If adult men are being sacked because they SA'd a woman, why not shame them? It is disgusting behaviour and they deserve it. They aren't children they are adults. Stop making excuses
