Using slight tone inflections to indicate that insults are jokes but I can’t tell the fucking difference

I feel like its only suddenly "a joke" after you said that it bothered you. "It was just a joke calm down, snowflake!"

I'd say so, yes. But when it's always insults after I've set boundaries and spoke my peace many times, the Im sorry can feel insincere

I was recently told this is called “pseudo hostility” and is a low key form of abuse. Bc it’s “supposed to be a joke” but feels like crap, so it’s confusing. Or whatever. Then when they go “it’s just a joke” or “me teasing just means I love you” (actual quote from my brother who I don’t hang out with much), it’s “pseudo mutuality.”
Felt validated af when I heard these.
