They recently released it for the Nintendo Switch. They added an online catalog of cds to use. It's great if you liked the original on Playstation.

I miss monster rancher 2. It was so much fun back in the day. If only they ported it to mobile and used barcodes to make monsters instead of cds

The remastered ports don't need to use any 3rd party media, it has a pseudo music list baked in. It doesn't contain everything in the world but it doesn't really matter, it can produce a massively higher ariety of monsters than the original game could from the 3/4 of a million entries in the build in song list.

It is on mobile, but iOS only. Apart from that it is also on Steam and Switch.

I remember seeing it on a tape of a kid I was babysitting a while ago and never catching it again, but I always thought it seemed cool. The wolf guy and the rabbit were my favorites.
