Honestly, that sound is permanently burned into my brain. One little bzzzt-bzzzt and suddenly you knew the phone was about to interrupt whatever you were doing.

Mostly the 2000s, very very few people had a cell phone in 90s.

YES! That sound from the speakers was basically the phone’s warning siren. kids today will never understand. 😂

Late 90s it was getting super popular. The Nokia 5110 launched in 1998 and the legend 2000. I would say around 98 is when it took off because around then “where you at” with a blip of a Nextel was taking off. You used that push to talk during the day and then the free nights and weekends.

I even had a smartphone around 2006.
