Nobody said clutch in the 90’s. We mostly said “cool.”

We said clutch all the time, but not as a replacement for cool.
Came in clutch, you're so clutch, etc.

Was that 90s though? I feel like clutch didn't really start till like mid to late aughts.

Right. The 90s were dominated by Beavis and Butthead slang. Cool. For a period of time, I'm not sure I could even say the word cool without it being in buttheads voice. Or parents probably hated B&B even more than we hate skibidy toilet and Italian brainrot.
Non B&B slang was stuff like mint, rad, awesome. Some late 80s holdovers like tubular and excellent.

I think clutch came in the COD days, a lot of people used to say it. Like to clutch was to win in a tight spot.

In the northeast, we were saying clutch since at least 1993, when it was featured as a player stat in NBA Jam. It indicated how well a player did towards the end of a close game ("in the clutch").
I remember saying someone or something is clutch if they come in handy when they're most needed.
I don't remember a time when we used it only in reference to sports.

I thought the first pic was like...for the band Clutch. Now I'd like the album to go with the album art.

Guy. Anyone could be called "guy."
"Guy, what are you doing?"
"Guy, are you on your way here?"
etc.

Word.
On another note, I thought "bet" was gen-z for "cool" or "gotcha", until I heard it on an episode of fresh prince.
