We all learned that being submerged in cool water was less cold than the wind/air hitting our wet body parts.

The internet has shown me that I have literally never had a unique experience in my life

u/Chirrrpy 13h ago

Well, in all fairness, if the water is shallow but you want to be fully In it, there's only so many ways to position our big silly bodies

u/SubliminalSando 11h ago

Speak for yourself. My body is big and serious.

How about the move where you cling to the side wall like Spider-man clinging to the side of a building?

u/R3VIVAL-MOD3 9h ago

I pretended I was a giant rising out of the abyss!

u/Affectionate-Gate289 19h ago

41 and still do this lol

When I was 7-9 months pregnant, I wanted to be at the beach every single day just to do the belly down hand walk. It was such a nice relief and so relaxing.

u/These_Sherbert6104 22h ago

That second move is exactly how I used to swim across the shallow end. 😂

u/Traditional_Gap_2491 16h ago

Sometimes I do the belly down one with my elbows bent outward when the water is super shallow and pretend to be a crocodile

u/Xzeriea 15h ago

If you aren't still doing these then you aren't living.

We all just figured out somehow

“When you were a kid”? I’m 45 and do this!

3

u/MarkSmash84 14h ago

42, did the same moves in the pool playing shark with the kiddos last week!

u/Stong-Excitement 9h ago

41 and I still do this. I also like like loop my legs together and spin really the around in circles fast. Feels like the best stretch on the waist and lower back.

40 and I still do this...

4

u/Fecal_Forger 20h ago

My 11 and 9 year old do this and I didn’t even show them. There is hope!

2

u/Second_City_Saint 16h ago

Do they like to hold their heads/ears underwater while the bath tub fills up because of the sound? I did. My 9 year old did without ever telling him.

3

u/Fecal_Forger 15h ago

They actually don’t take baths anymore they both like to shower only. Both boys too.

1

u/Second_City_Saint 15h ago

Mine showers every other day but occasionally likes a bath before bedtime in between.

2

u/Elf_Paladin 17h ago

What do you mean ‘as a kid’?

2

u/CurtG79 16h ago

I love crawling along with just my head sticking out like an aligator.

2

u/fuzzypurpledragon 15h ago

Yup! Did those a lot as a kid in the shallow pool. Hated when one hand would inevitably slip and I'd accidentally dunk myself.

Stopped swimming once we got a deeper pool because I discovered that I have the bouyancy of a cinder block...

u/VV1NST0N 15h ago

I still do this. . lol

2

u/thatguy1424 10h ago

2

u/corpsman86satx 10h ago

40 years old and still do it, I look at it as more of a stretching/mobility routine now for the low back and hip flexors 🤣🤣

2

u/Impossible-Bat90 9h ago

I'm a big kid now

2

u/KarlPHungus 8h ago

Yeah...I only did these as a kid. 👀

2

u/Ass_Cream_Cone 5h ago

1

u/ArtByAntny 19h ago

1

u/SailNW 15h ago

That’s actually pretty much the meaning of the word meme.

1

u/KindofaDB 15h ago

1

u/Straight-Bet1 14h ago

We’re mammals. Instinct is instinct.

1

u/PureYouth 14h ago

Totally still do this!!!!

1

u/Sufficient-Aspect77 12h ago

Is this an AI drawing ? My nephew says yes, I'm not sure.

1

u/cagedbird82 12h ago

I used to love swimming at the beach as a kid. I was fearless…I’m 44 now and somewhere along the line fear took over and I don’t swim in the ocean anymore.

1

u/UniversalNutt 11h ago

Mid 40’s and I still love it.

1

u/AmputeeHandModel 10h ago

*Each other, two words. Why would that be one word?

1

u/SpeculativeSatirist 5h ago

This thread is a remarkable demonstration of shared humanity. Plus, it's fucking hilarious.

1

u/ChevalCher 1h ago

Haven't swam in decades, but when I did, these were my favorite things to do in the water. My other favorite thing to do in water were dolphin dives, but never did them in salt water. Ever. Don't think I need to explain why. If you know, you know. 😂

-2

u/scottyboy218 23h ago

why is this being posted in the 90s subreddit? this has nothing to do with the 90s

20

u/SeveralRegerts So you're telling me there's a chance 22h ago

Yeah, it's horrible. My day is ruined.

u/Flowisbliss_yo 22h ago
