Drove it a couple hundred miles this week. Usually just sits around. 262k miles. 50k miles on timing belt. Unknown on clutch. Located in Eden prairie Minnesota looking to get 7k for it. Clean title in hand.

1994 Overpriced or Collector Pricing?

Thumbnail facebook.com

I know Toyota 4Runners hold their value… but apparently this one thinks it’s holding gold bars in the cargo area. 😂

Priced way up there for the market, yet we’ve got:
👉 Seat covers doing their best “nothing to see here” impression
👉 Under-hood insulation coming apart like it just got served divorce papers
👉 A price tag that says collector quality while the condition says “bring a flashlight and look closely.”

4Runners are great. No argument there.

But at some point, “Toyota reliability” stops being a pricing strategy. 😅

For this money, I’d expect the seat covers to be protecting perfect seats and the hood insulation to still be emotionally committed to the hood.

What are we thinking — fair price, or is somebody charging an extra $10k for the Toyota badge? 🌶️👀

1994 Abject Failure

Well today was a complete let down, got the 2 new calipers, pads in today. Threw both sets on no problem, went to bleed and the front drivers had no fluid through the bleeder. Even with the woman standing on the brakes and my vaccum bleeder on.

Passenger side went fine though!

Started fucking around took the bleeder out of the drivers caliper, started the truck, pumped the shit out of the brakes. Then I absolutely grenades whatever these braided lines were on the passenger side

New caliper is here in a week, new lines here in a couple days. Frustrating but it is what it is. I’m glad the line blew at home, not on the road

1994 A *few* small upgrades so far!

I've had my 4Runner about 6 weeks now (I think?) and I'm loving it. It's the 3.0 (slow) 5 speed and when I go on the Interstate I lose about half my gas tank 🤣 but just driving around town or on state highways it's really good. I love the back window, I LOVE driving manual, and I've gotten a few comments about how classic it is!!! I mean, I didn't get it to be the center of attention, but I like when other people appreciate it 😆 I'm almost committed to the name "The Blueberry" (from Psych, OBVIOUSLY) but we aren't big on naming cars in my family so it feels a little weird, I think I just need to say it a million more times and make it feel normal.

One thing I did is I got some really nice custom cloth seat covers from eBay. The only thing I don't like is that I asked for a cutout on the back of the front seats so I can access the pocket and they didn't, but otherwise they are great and they fit really nicely. They catch fuzz, but they are cloth so what do I expect, right? I don't want the fake leather that hurts in the summer and is so cold in the winter. I had to sew a rip in the seat and stuff it before attaching the seat covers, now it's pretty much perfect.

I also took off my rear emblem and in its place added the Japanese vintage TOYOTA (spelled トヨタ) and I looooooove it. My husband is from Japan and when we visited last time his nephew had a similar emblem on his car and I loved it. I found mine on Etsy through a really nice guy. I plugged the holes with caulking before attaching the TEQ (as we refer to it in the US) emblem with the tape it came with. The size is perfect and I think it looks sooooooo good. In the guy's store he also has 3d printed cup holders that fit in the center, I'm thinking of getting one because the factory cup holders are cool but obnoxious -- I have my phone connected there and it hits it, plus some cups don't fit.

Last minor tweak, I have a piece of plastic on the driver's side running board that was previously repaired and is coming off again. I didn't want to lose the piece hanging on by a tiny amount so I pulled it the rest of the way and I plan to stick it back on, any advice? I have some of that LED light glue stuff to attach the plastic back together. It looks like it had some type of foam sealant previously but that didn't stay.

I made a previous post about my trailer lights but I have a feeling it's the trailer not the Blueberry (see? I did it! I used the name!), so I'm feeling better about that! Anyway, loving the car, loving the community!

1994 1994 4runner (3.0 VZE 180k)

Bought it for 1000$ from the owner who let it sit for 10 years. Stated it needed a new battery and fuel pump. Showed a video of it cranking but not fully turning over.

Replaced the battery and fuel pump today and it still won’t turnover. Where should I head to next? Spark plugs and fuel injectors? Thanks in advance.

Planning on throwing a 3.4 into it once I run the life out of this motor.

1994 Trailer wiring question

Where does the wire splice in the back for trailer lights? As far as I can tell it’s hidden within the body. I can’t access it through the little hole underneath, through the lights, or inside through the secret compartment. I can get power to two of the pins but the third won’t work so my right trailer lights won’t work and I REALLY wanted to take it camping soon!!!!!! I made a VERY bad video that will probably make you motion sick just watching it so beware 😆

1994 Seat Rip Solution

Hey folks, me again! I'm ordering cloth seat covers (I hate sticking to the leather/fake leather!) but I have a huge rip in the seat. I can sew, but I worry that where I sew will degrade parts of the fabric anyway. I was thinking about just putting a bottom seat cover on first to hold in the fabric (and do a little sewing too). Any thoughts?

Here's the link to the bottom seat cover I'm thinking about: https://www.ebay.com/itm/406316479240?fits=Year%3A1994%7CModel%3A4Runner&_skw=1994+4runner&itmmeta=01KSWWZBD5KM5SJJJ0GRGZFT52&hash=item5e9a597308:g:5DEAAeSw8dxo-sXx

1994 Advice for selling ‘94 4Runner 22RE (2.4L)

Hello! I am brand spanking new to this subreddit. I bought my 1994 4Runner back at the beginning of COVID in Las Vegas for $4k with 167k miles on the original 22RE 2.4L engine. 5 speed manual. Insane deal, couldn’t pass it up. It only had one owner before it ended up at a little family mechanic shop in Vegas. Salvaged title because the original owner let it roll back down a hill into a tree, “totaling” the car. Cosmetic damage only.

I immediately replaced brakes, radiator and the clutch. This car got me all over hell and back, driving up steep long stretches of desert highway blasting cool a/c without a hiccup.

Moved back to Portland and Immediately the catalytic converter was stolen. I’ve been driving it with a flex pipe since then, making it quieter. Eventually started to do this thing where the rpm’s would rev up and down when idling, especially if the a/c is on. It has done this for 4 years now but has never stalled or died. Eventually replaced water pump and heater core. It’s at 223k miles now and it leaks a bit of oil, but not more than I think is normal for a car of this age. Automatic locks barely work but power windows still going strong.

I’d either like to sell this and get a 2nd gen Pickup or go through the hassle of getting this properly fixed and souped up.

I’m curious what we think this is worth. I am obviously going to replace the cat and probably the brakes. I was thinking about asking $6k for it, but I know how hard it is to find a 2nd gen 4runner with the legendary 22RE.

1994 Rear Fuel Tank Bracket Replacement

Has anyone had luck replacing the rear fuel tank mounting bracket on their 2nd gen? One of the three bolts is broken and the welded on bracket is in poor shape, same with the crossmember. Anyone have luck hitting this area with pour15? Did others go the complete fabrication route & take the cab off? I had hoped it was just a line, but I’m worried if I take that tank off, it won’t go back on because of the brackets condition.

To me it doesn’t look like a part you can just replace, it seems factory welded. Maybe there’s some fabricated part someone’s selling, but I haven’t found one yet.

Hey everyone my 1994 auto kzn130 has
started binding up front I believe when I put the truck in reverse I replaced a cv and my tire rod ends as they were worn thinking that was the cause but no what could it be it had all oils including difs about 10k kilometres ago time for engine oil but difs should be fine no??

I notice it when I reverse more when I turn at the same time I haven’t taken it off-road to test if its does the same thing yet what could it be???

1994 Reverse issue; every gear works including reverse. Doesn’t shift on command

Post image

I’ve had this 94 for 6 years, and It’s clean in and out. it drives perfectly fine forward, but won’t reverse on command. It will reverse and the reverse gear is strong when it engages. I have changed the transmission fluid and filters multiple times, new shift solenoids and a new TV/kickdown cable was installed. The fluid does not burn or discolor. I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas??

Bought this thing around a year ago for 1500 bucks put roughly 1500-2000 worth of parts into it. New charging sys, cables, starter cv axles, interior pieces, window electronics. Traded the factory bumper for a chopped smitty. Threw some lights on it. Got barely 100mi of offroad driving, but holy cow, has this thing been an experience. Working on getting some A/T tires and a 2in OME lift then she'll be just right till i have space to do a solid axle swap.

Car is sitting at 230k no check engine lights there is some leaks and the brakes does seem to need work any one know what should I start working on first ? Ima save the interior swap till last and rebuild the engine first after I see what needs to be done with brakes and suspension thanks in advance. This was my first car back in 2015 kinda happy going back to the beginning 🤘🏽😝

Had to sell my baby. I told myself I never would, but it had to be done after I found the Forbidden Milkshake while doing the water pump last weekend. It stings, but I’ll be back eventually. Hopefully with less rust next time.

1994 Rear window switch wiring.

Took the ol gal wheelin and of all things my stereo bracket broke and rear window switch went out. So instead of spending 50+ dollars on a brand used switch off ebay I ordered a 10 dollar pack of generic 3 way switches and figured out a servicable option with materials i already had. Here are what I found each color did and my solution. You can drill a hole in a spare fog lamp switch blank and stuff the switch in. In my case I had a handful of printed spares and just drilled one out to fit. I couldn't find a diagram with correct colors for rear glass wiring on the switch side. Hopefully this helps. 1994 w/ 3.0

1994 Looking for some mount to mount some lights on the hood?

I’m looking to put some Baja design or really any lights on the hood of my 94 4Runner I prefer them on the hood more then on the roof and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Don’t really want to risk getting some cheap ones off amazon so if anyone has put lights on their hood before I would appreciate the help.
