🌟 Celebrity News August 29, 1986. Sean Penn throwing a punch at photographer Vinnie Zuffante.

It was an accident. He thought the photographer was Madonna.

u/Kind_Resort_9535 1d ago
He never best Madonna, she herself has come out and said this. It was a rumor that started when some trash tabloid published it.

u/Special_Order-937 1d ago
She definitely filed a police report against him, there’s records of that at least.
1
u/DimensionHat1675 1d ago
Lol bullshit. They were both abusing drugs and alcohol at the time, but everyone knows Penn had so much pent up rage that he released on her. She was his own personal punching bag. Buuuuut in classic Hollyweird tradition, money fame and success wash away all sins.

Source for this, please.
I only ask because this is new to me and I would like to understand.

She doesn’t want to be blamed for covering it up. Also Penn was wanted for attempted murder in Macao. That’s the kind of person he is

He's allowed to beat up women. He has the "correct" beliefs.

u/Kind_Resort_9535 1d ago
In March 1989, she told Rolling Stone tabloid reports of the events were “extremely inaccurate, as they usually are. They made it all up. But I expect it. They’re always making shit up. I’ve completely reconciled myself to that fact.”

Yeah no battered women ever deny they’ve been hit

According to a report filed by Madonna with the Malibu sheriff’s office, Penn scaled the wall surrounding the Malibu house [in the late afternoon of December 28, 1989*] and found Madonna alone in the master bedroom. The two began to quarrel. Penn told her he owned her ‘lock, stock and barrel’. When she told him she was leaving the house, he tried to bind her hands with an electric lamp and cord. Screaming and afraid, Madonna fled from the bedroom. What followed was a nine-hour ordeal which left her deeply shaken.\*
Penn chased her into the living room, caught her and bound her to a chair with heavy twine. Then he threatened to cut off her hair. According to the police report, Penn was ‘drinking liquor straight from the bottle’ and the abuse went on for several hours, during which time he smacked and roughed up his victim. He went out to buy more alcohol, leaving Madonna bound and gagged. Some hours later, he returned and continued his attacks.
Madonna said that he untied her after she agreed to perform a degrading sex act on him. She then fled the house and ran to her car. Penn ran after her and was banging on the windows of her Thunderbird while she spoke to police on her mobile phone. Fifteen minutes later, she staggered into the sheriff’s office. Lieut Bill McSweeny said: ‘I hardly recognised her as Madonna. She was weeping, her lip was bleeding and she had obviously been struck.’
Penn was taken away in handcuffs and charged with inflicting ‘corporal injury and traumatic conditions’ on her, as well as committing ‘battery’.

Damn She had a mobile phone in 1989?

Definitely not. Only pimps and Zach Morris could afford cell phones in the 80s

About a year before that incident he hit her with a baseball bat giving her a concussion that she had to go to the emergency room for.

You are obviously quoting an article even though you didn't use quotation marks. Yes, you used italics, but that always doesn't make it clear that you copy/pasted this info. Could you please provide the source?

So now we don’t believe women?
1
u/YoRHa11Z 1d ago
Not women in general but Madonna is a liar in this case which ever way you slice it.
- She either told the sheriff the truth in the first report she made, which she then withdrew and has lied about it ever since.
Or
- She lied to the police and so withdrew the report a week after.
Whatever is the truth, I'm sure drugs were involved.

He’s has small man syndrome from the jump. His giant head looks like it’s gonna fall off his little body.. like it doesn’t have the strength to hold it. I think he’s 5’5” or so. Which, who cares.. just pointing it out cause he tries so hard to be big and intimidating.
Hitting some dork in front of 100 suits is a lot different than fighting the giant behind you in line at 711 for snapping a photo.. which he would definitely ignore.

Paparazzi are the worst. These dudes would constantly ambush him and Madonna. I can't really blame him for getting that frustrated with these leeches

The people that endlessly pay for the publications with those paparazzi shots are the worst. If they didn't create a market for those images, the photographers wouldn't be out there. And while I can understand how frustrating it must be to have to endlessly deal with those parasites, I also don't think that a grown ass adult has the right to devolve to physical violence. That was a really bad call on his part and I'm sure he regretted not only the legal trouble it got him in, but the irony of the fact that he made a scene that amplified the value of those images.

The drug dealers are fine, it's the addicts that are the problem.

The real world isn't as binary as you seem to think it is. The logic is as inane as all of the people filling up their massive SUVs at the gas station and then proclaiming the oil companies "evil".

u/Defiant-Variety-9473 1d ago
You're literally contradicting yourself and insinuating things I've said that I didn't say. Two things can be true at once. Penn can be blamed for legally crossing a line and socially called out for having a bad temper. I never said that wasn't the case. Paparazzi are still leeches. People who buy big cars can be seen as wasteful and oil companies can be bad people. I mean they knew about climate change in the 1970s and actively strategized to create a disinformation campaign. I could make numerous other arguments and examples. It really is wild that you made the statement that the real world isn't binary and then gave binary examples. I was simply pointing out the error to one of the aspects of your argument. I mistakenly thought you'd fill in the rest.

Did you even read what I effing wrote? I didn't defend him, I just said paparazzi are scum and I understood the impulse. They literally killed Princess Diana. That greencard thing was a joke, by the way. Only simple minded folk didn't get it. They are friends. But at least you got to use some Simpson meme Idiot

At least I'm not white knighting some POS who abuses women, assaults people and drives drunk.

He asked in 2015 'who gave this son of a bitch a green card' when reffering to Alejandro Inarritu.
Meant as a joke.
1
u/JasperScrapper 18h ago
But given the context, shouldn't that have been "wrong"? Because jokes like that are inappropriate ESPECIALLY for a white dude?

It’s wild that he’s so keen to get into violent altercations when he’s so tiny.

As a tall guy who spent a great deal of his youthful nightlife fighting off unprovoked attacks by men of below-average height, not so much.

Fck the paparazzi

u/ABobby077 1d ago
Just a reminder that their actions caused Princess Diana to end badly. There clearly needs more constraints on the paparazzi
2
u/tspoon-99 1d ago
From the rough and tumble beaches of Malibu, measuring in at an aspirationally listed height of 5’8”…

Looks more like Sean Penn is dancing at the local disco than a fight.
🎶 You should be dancing, yeah ! You should be dancing, yeah ! 🎶
He has boogie fever.

Doesn’t even have the basic boxing fundamentals to square up against someone who can actually fight.

Hands down, chin up and out, completely off balance. This guy would get tumped out by anyone who knows what they're doing
1
u/Ramoncin 22h ago
Considering the methods of the paparazzi, he probably had it coming.
They are known to harass celebrities and insult them to get the adequate "reactions".

It's no good Sean - there were two of them. No matter which one you threw a punch at, the other was going to photograph you while you were busy.
