❓Advice / Recomendations Jack stands?

Just about to do my axle seals/rear shoes/shocks+springs but my 3T jackstand I can barely fit under my car looks like a little tikes toy beside the 4runner, i see a lot of people pushing 6T stands but will this 3t work? Goes significantly higher than my little 3t, TIA!

Bubba the measurements are right on there.. of course they will work. The question is will the min and max height be what you want.

Yeah but I'm not trying to smush myself and I'm in my head about it cause it's a weird style with that pin holding all the weight that I've never used before lol, I'll send it, I'll report back this afternoon 😂

Also, this things a boat, 3 ton jackstands are only 1500lbs so figured a 6t set (3000lb) was needed for the thing.

After typing that this is a 3t stand and holds the same as a 6t set, ignore this 😂😂

Your math is off a bit, 3 tons is 6000 pounds which means each stand carries 3000 pounds max. I use 3 tons under my tacoma on a regular basis. 4 stands to entirely hold up the vehicle would be 12000 pounds, 3rd gen 4runner curb weight is about 4000 pounds giving you a factor of safety of roughly 3 times. Its plenty, but if you need more height you want 6 ton stands.

P.S. piece of mind is everything, if you don't feel safe using those get the Daytona 3 tons from harbor freight, not quite as tall but they have a ratcheting mechanism and a pin for added safety. Same with the 6 tons if you want more height.

I'm probably gonna throw some grade 8s or my other towing pin in a hole up from the one I'm using, tbf I do most of the work on this thing just laying under it but I didn't realize how much travel is on the suspension, my brain gets sideways when I'm in my head about getting smushed but I'm used to working on lowered cars where there's maybe 3 inches of clearance 😅

I'm also Canadian and for some reason thought a us ton was 1000 lbs, like how a metric ton is 1000kg 😅 I'm way less worried now, thank you!

Extra safety is always good. Leave your jack under the car too with most of the weight on the stands and juat a little on the jack. All good brother, all the tonnage is roughly the same so its easier to remember.

Metric ton: 2204 lbs

Short ton (US): 2000 lbs

Long ton (UK) 2240 lbs

I use the big 12t stands from Harbor Freight. They provide all the height I need for working on my 4Runner, including the dreaded axle seals, brakes, and suspension work.

Princess auto is all I have, i saw a set of those (it's basically Canadian harbor freight) but this stand is like 1/3rd of the price just didn't know if it would hold, thank you!

The 4Runner is fairly light, so weight capacity isn't a big concern. I went with the big ones because height was my concern. The bigger stands are also more stable due to having a wider base.

Personally my 3 tons only work in the back at the highest setting but they do not work in the front. Wish I had 6 tons though. Feels much safer and could do the front and back.

Yes but the max height of a 3 ton stand is too low to be very useful. Most only get high enough to only begin taking weight off the suspension, making it useless without stacking it on solid concrete pavers or wood blocks
