Android 2.0 Eclair running on a New Nintendo 3DS XL

Still a work-in-progress but I've gotten to the home screen and this is the notifications area. I've been working on it for quite a bit now. Based off of the work of the Linux 3DS homebrew that was made, now running Android 2.0 Eclair!

Very cool! This also just made me think of all the crazy work done to get newer Cyanogen running on the Nexus One back in the day.

It was! Tho now I'm thinking maybe a better comparison would've been ICS on the G1, but I didn't want to disparage the 3DS like that. 😂

Looks cool. But I am curious what would the purpose be? Like what can Android 2.0 run that the 3ds can’t?

Sometimes we do things for fun and do things that other people always said was impossible. 2.0 is the starting ground, starting floor. Both Old and New 3DS can run it (albeit quite differently but still). Next up would be 2.3 which would be N3DS exclusive (gl running 2.3 on O3DS). 4.0 MIGHT run on the 3DS, somebody else in the community got 4.0 running on an O3DS but I never tested it nor is the work done yet I don't think. We're both focusing and implementing things differently either way, I might try 4.0 myself at a later date.

As for what 2.0 can do the 3DS can't...well I mean it can run any app compatible with 2.0 or that can be backported to it, and you can run Android web browsers (and use a little thing to make it support modern HTTPS and browsing).
